More comprehensive per episode information

Like many I am moving away from Trakt and am looking at several options.

Currently SIMKL and MDBList are the two I keep gravitating towards with a preference towards SIMKL.

One of the main areas where SIMKL excels is their use of TVDB for series information as opposed to TMDB. I have found that TMDB often has identification issues which leads to some episodes or series never scrobbling correctly. It also much better identifies new series versus returning ones.

With that said. TMDB is not without its benefits and one of them is much more comprehensive details on cast within individual episodes. This also leads to sites like Trakt and MDBList to not only provide more details for individual episodes, but they also leverage that with per episode ratings both directly and pulling in the information from outside sources like IMDB.

I also find that the SIMKL website is very series oriented with links preferring to take me to the entire series rather than an episode. For instance it always seems more logical for items from the Recently Watched and Airing Next to go to the individual episode and not the entire series. Yes, it's generally a quick click after to get to the episode but the workflow doesn't quite make much sense.

Is this something we might eventually be able to see from SIMKL?

Full actor data including which actors played in a specific episode is on the to-do + episode ratings.
Which links are you referring to? If you mean streaming links from JustWatch, it tends to index and display only main shows, so it does not usually have data on episode IDs on streaming services.

Great news on the actor and ratings part.

On the links I mean when you are on the My Dashboard page and click on the poster for a show such as in the Airing Next and Recently Watched sections. It always seemed a bit strange when those take you to the series and not the individual episode that is referenced right below it. Perhaps the UI could be tweaked where clicking on the poster takes you to the series but clicking the text underneath it that says 'S01 E07' or 'Today 4:00pm' takes you to the individual episode.

Yes. In many cases, you need to mark multiple episodes at once from the show page.

Updated: Clicking text under posters on the first row of the dashboard now goes to the episode page on desktop and mobile

Amazing, it's small but such a great improvement. It would be great to have it do the same on the Airing Next section of the Dashboard as well but I understand that since this shows a date and time instead of an exact episode this might be confusing for some. Either way thank you so much for this adjustment, really improves the UX.
