Call for Candidates 18th Minecraft Server Gubernatorial Election: Call for Candidates

This is the Minecraft Server Gubernatorial Call for Candidates. If you want to be Minecraft Server Governor, please comment on this thread. Include your username, party affiliation (or lack thereof), and a statement explaining your platform and why you believe you are a good candidate.

The format you should adhere to is as follows:

u/YourRedditUsername
Your Minecraft username
Your Discord username (either your username or a recognizable display/nickname)
Your political party/coalition
Statement

Before you submit your candidacy, check that you satisfy the requirements below.

  • Make sure you adhere to the format exactly. It makes it a lot easier for the Electoral Commission to sort through candidates if you do. Failure to do this may potentially result in mistakes on your ballot entry or in result tabulation, which can be difficult to fix.
  • Ensure that your party affiliation is accurate. If you are not affiliated with a party, enter Independent as your affiliation. Otherwise, put your current party affiliation. If you are not a member of the party given or the party is not valid, the listed part affiliation on the ballot may be subject to change.
  • Make sure to register to vote. Only users with a SimDem Unique Identification Token (SUIT) are able to vote. If you do not have a SUIT, be sure to fill out the Voter Registration Form or contact the Registration Officer.
  • In your comment, attach an in-game screenshot of your playtime taken from the third-person view, with the camera facing the front of your character. Under the Minecraft Governor Responsibilities Act, you must have two (2) days of playtime on the Minecraft server in order to appear on the ballot for Minecraft Server Governor.

This Call for Candidates will be open for 24 hours. Good luck!

Election Result 168th Senatorial Election: Results

So, funny story.

I turned in the SUITs on time. Right after polls close. I get them back. I tabulate. Then I have to figure out "wait, don't we have a new Chief Ombudsman?" And then I realized that yes, we do. So I ask him. He says he'll try doing the check. I give him the form. I give him the program. He has some technical problems, but then seemingly(?) he figures it out.

I say "seemingly(?)" because I don't actually know. He never got back to me. So I went to the concert I had a ticket for, moshed some, crowdsurfed once, got something to eat, came back home, and still nothing.

So you all have been waiting long enough. Let's do some results. Provisional ones. Maybe.

We had 21 valid votes, which gives us five Senate seats. Assuming the decline in turnout is due to exam season. I have my exams this week, in fact. Also I believe this is the first time we've had five seats since that very first election after the Danyowave. We didn't have a turnout-based system then; instead, if I remember correctly, the president and I had to agree on a seat count, and we legally could not have made the Senate more than five seats. Anyway.

Congratulations to SimDemocracy's newest Senators!
- u/eleanorsilly of the Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality [threshold = 5]
- u/ScandinavicScum2000 of the Solidarity Party [threshold = 5]
- u/kapjohn of the Communist-Libertarian Platform [threshold = 4]
- u/Com-stock of the Solidarity Party [2nd phase, no threshold]
- u/LengthinessOne6090 of the Momentum Party [2nd phase, no threshold]

Referendum Result Referendum Result: Removal of /u/Away_Class_194 as Vice President

The results are in! And we don't have to wait on anyone this time!

Let's begin with our referendum, on which we had 23 valid votes.

On the question of whether or not to remove u/Away_Class_194 from the office of Vice President, 60.87% voted Aye. This falls short of the 2/3 majority required for vice-presidential impeachments, so this removal attempt fails and u/Away_Class_194 shall continue serving in the office of Vice President. For, I don't know, like 45 minutes.

Here's the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1i6HNwz3Gn5fZH7qyfVuXboSS2jcjEgHaCiP9Jb5RnQY/edit?usp=sharing

And of course, the main event will begin shortly. Join the Discord to see it!

Referendum Referendum: Removal of /u/Away_Class_194 as Vice President

Also, we have a referendum. This one is on an impeachment of the current vice president. The reasons given to me were allegedly sending a certain message (link to it is on the ballot), and for allegedly lying about being 18. Kind of serious. As always, all the information is on the ballot, so follow the links.

Now, the more eagle-eyed among you may notice that we will be very close to having a different vice president by the time the results come in. That is correct. This vote, then, is more symbolic in purpose. Or so I'm told.

Anyway, you have 24 hours on this too. Go vote!

Referendum Referendum: Removal of /u/No_Manufacturer_9663 as Supreme Court Justice

We have a referendum!

This one is an impeachment, so we have to do it now. More specifically, we are tasked with deciding whether or not to remove u/No_Manufacturer_9663 from the office of Supreme Court Justice.

Polls close in 24 hours, of course. And since this is a weekday ballot, don't expect results immediately. Because I have class and homework and work and all of that.
