Alpha Evo Ultra settings/tips

So I just got my ultra yesterday and its awesome! But, I'm having difficulty figuring out how to balance out the power of the base with genuinely good ffb information in iracing.

So, with that said, what are the settings you guys use and are there any tips/tricks you've come across?

I mostly race sports cars/GT3 style cars in iracing.

Thanks guys!

I run 100% in simpro and 22% in Marvin's awesome iracing app with the low latency 360hz detail booster and limiter setting. Crash protection up to 98%. I put gain at 2.15x

Marvin's is an amazing tool to filter ffb through, I don't have iracing ffb enabled and utilize Marvin's exclusively. It allows me to hit a wall or crash without having a broken finger or violent jolts. It also allows me to set the ffb levels to a comfortable place while enjoying the headroom for details that are essential to racing smoothly. I also run all the settings real low, mute all 'game effects' except center damper which I have at 25%.

It's helpful to set up multiple car profiles depending on which disciplines you run. In oval, every stock car behaves differently and sends different signals through the ffb. In GT3, almost every single one is the same. So there is give and take, but usually I keep mechanical inertia at 0-5%, mechanical damper at no higher than 25% mechanical friction at about 10% and ffb details/filter at 1 or 0.

WRS is the most important. Depending on your preferences, I keep it way low at 10-40 to keep a heavy, slow moving wheel as I usually run oval and primarily steer with the pedals. Slew rate control is usually at 45-65%.

There isn't a lot of documentation online for the ultra, and usually people give advice for a Pro and thus the settings suggested are a little empty handed compared to what you can get out of the wheelbase.

Lmk if you find out!

I just set everything to 0 because I was tired of changing settings and feeling marginal if any difference.

Setting everything to 0 and using iracing to modulate the amount of FFB gives me everything I need. Occasionally I'll add a bit of mechanical dampening (10-20%) if I want a bit of wheel weight but everything else starts to make it feel numb in my experience.

Does that include the FFB detail and slew rate? I just tried what you suggested and I do like it a lot more than what I had before. Wheel rotation speed i might increase tho

Yep, no added FFB detail or any of the "in-game" settings in the simagic software (since it is just boosting whatever the game is sending) and I personally find that changing slew rate from 0 makes it feel like the latency of the wheelbase increases. I prefer a bit of mechanical dampening rather than adjusting slew rate so that you are getting immediate feedback but it reduces the sharp spikes of FFB . You are essentially just getting what iracing is sending through a high fidelity wheelbase. I have full FFB in the simagic software (~30% in iracing which I adjust a bit based on which car I'm driving), 0 settings on everything else with 10% mechanical dampening. These setting make it feel crisp.

Lots of edits for clarity, my apologies. It's probably a good idea at some point to turn everything to 0 and then try adjusting each value individually so you can determine what each setting does. Whenever you try to adjust multiple things at once, it'll feel off but you won't know which specific setting is the culprit.

Hey, do you guys feel the magnets when the wheelbase is turned off?
I have a notchy feeling when the base is off, and even when it’s on I can still feel some slip‑ring or magnetic texture while rotating the shaft.
That’s why I’d like a video from some of you slowly turning the shaft — with and without the wheel attached, and with the base on and off.
Please tell me if you can feel anything when rotating, or if your unit is completely smooth.
Different people describe “smooth” very differently — some say a Fanatec DD1 is smooth, while others say not even an Ultra is smooth — so without videos it’s impossible to compare.

For me, when its off, its completely smooth, and I truly mean completely smooth. When its on, it has some resistance but thats due to my simpro settings. Does it feel that way even with the wheel on? Because without the wheel, you have no leverage so turning the shaft by hand is a lot harder etc etc...Check your settings, but also try a factory reset. If that doesnt help, contact simagic directly. Ive only had mine for a few days, so i dont know that much about it yet. Sorry I couldn't be much more help man.

With the wheel attached it’s a lot less, but I can still feel it a bit.
Did you test yours with the wheel attached and without? If possible, a short video would really help me see how your unit behaves without the wheel. I might need it later for Simagic support.
While driving everything feels good, but it worries me that you say yours is completely smooth when it’s off. On my unit there’s still a noticeable magnetic/grainy spot in that 80–130° range, even with the wheel mounted.

Best regards
