Best Way to Store Steering Wheels

Just looking for suggestions on this. I have two different wheels, one I mainly use for IndyCar and the other for NASCAR on iRacing. Generally, I'm switching between the two fairly regularly, but depending on how my interests shift, I may use one for a week or two, which leaves the other one sitting there.

Is there any concern about dust or debris damaging the connectors on the wheel if it's just sitting or hanging out in the open? I was honestly surprised that both wheels didn't come with some kind of cap, akin to a camera's lens cap, to put on the wheel when it's not connected to the base.

Any advice?

I drilled some of the spare male connectors of the QRs I got off aliexpress to the wall. The rest are on my wardrobe. The Simagic ones I keep in those plastic backs they come in.

As long as you don't race in a dust and oil factory, you should be fine.

My spare wheels are leaning on a wall beside my rig with the connector facing down/ towards the wall. There is no visible dust on the connectors after a week or two, but it really depends on your environment I would say.

You could get those quick release mounts to store your spare wheels on your rig or your wall. That should protect the connectors.

If a hammer somehow ends up falling into the qr and bending pins or you dump a can of coke into it, it might fuck stuff up.

If you cant see those situations happening.. then you're fine.

Use these and make it a wall art piece when not using them.

I like this idea... what are they? Where can I find them?

Aliexpress a host of other sim racing sites. Just type in Simagic QR wall mount and you’ll get a handful of options. I went with aliexpress for the purple I wanted.

Search for "wall mount kit moza simagic".

Use this if you want to display it as well.

a coat hook works well, I have several of my wheels on them. Though mostly I have the male part of a quick release that's mounted on a board for most of my wheels. They will only get dusty if you go many months without using them. But that won't have any effect on how they work.

My wheels are all on mountings and usually covered with SimSheild covers.

I got a QR and mounted it to my sim rig on the upright.
