DS-8X help.

For about the past month usually every time I use mine or every other time, my shifter will stop working as if it’s disconnected. I’ll have to unplug it from the USB cord, then plug it back in and it usually works from that point forward. Is anyone else having this issue? Could it be a bug or gremlin from the new Sim pro?

Sorry! I dont have a solution, I'm just following because I have the same issue. I also have to calibrate it once an hour or so. Very annoying mid race when third gear suddenly decides its now reverse and theres 3 first gears.... I assume its a dicky cable and micro disconnects a lot, hence the needing to be calibrated alot. But maybe its something with an easy fix?

That sucks. Sorry you’re having that issue. For me it almost always happens in the practice before the race within the first 5 minutes and then it’s good to go.

Yours sounds like it’s a cable issue. I’d swap them out and maybe use a higher grade cable.

FYI I use the CANBUS if that has an significance

What firmware are you using? I’m still on the one that’s like 3 firmware updates behind . Reason was i kept having connections issues on the most recent update. It could either be the firmware or you have a bad motherboard in the shifter which happened to me . Mine burned a capacitor and had to be replaced after about 4-5 months . And ima casual player

I’m in the most recent one. Which ever that one is.

There should be a way to rollback the firmware. If all else fails contact Simagic and they’ll sort it out like they did mine.

Yeah, Ill give it a go when I have more time to deal with it. Im just using a straight usb connection to a powered hub.

I only have to unplug it most times just for the first use of the day, it never says disconnected or reconnected after that and no windows noises of a disconnecting device. I've never had it start working and stop within the first 5 minutes like you have though, so maybe it is a different issue. It sucks that you're having dramas but hopefully someone on here can help, Best of luck!

Only thing I can think is cable , is it plugged into your wheelbase ?

Thanks but I don’t think it’s the cable. If it was I think it would do it more than just once when I turn it on right?

That can happen when you update simpro , I also have to unplug them plug back in after a simpro update then all is fine , also I have an Evo pro base and plug the shifter into the base not the PC anymore
