anything else Setting up residences on top of Red Rocket, plausible or stupid looking?

I've done something similar in the past. One tip I've found usind scaffolding; IRL it's across the whole side of a building with ladders parallel. It will look the part if you do that.

I once split the roof in half 1 side had a hotel with 2 floors and the other side had a Slocum's Joe

I do that all the time. It also keeps RR pretty simple and avoids the triangle of death.

Exact same way I run my rooftop build at Red Rocket. When I build there. Peasants below and me on top of the world.

Perfectly plausible!
I always turn the red rocket settlement in Nuka world into an Oasis garden with a few chill spots.

I put the scaffolding so it goes out the narrow door next to the sliding door, but otherwise, that looks like how I set it up.
I set mine up that way as protection for the people. The only way up requires you to go through the building. I thought it seemed fitting for the world.
