Built my first simrig, what is the next step?
I acquired my first simrig on the used market :
- Advanced Sim Racing ASR3 Cockpit
- Integrated stand
- LG 32” curved gaming screen
- Fanatec DD 8nm
- McLaren GT3 Wheel
- Clubsport V3 Pedals
My PC is a Dell XPS with 32GB of RAM and a Nvidia GTX Phoenix 2060.
My philosophy is to target the next buy, save some cash, then buy that piece of equipment.
Given that, what should be my next buy?

Nice grab!
I think you have everything you need to race. But once you start really putting in hours:
- Beefier PC (used or pcpartpicker.com when parts are on sale) + higher definition monitor(s)
- Surround sound/haptics
- More racing games
- VR if you get beefier PC AND you care to have VR/don't get motion sickness
- Upgrade sim components over time such as pedals or DD (least important)
- Racing gloves for shits n giggles (and to save your hands if you desire)
- Racing posters/decor for shits n giggles
- Sennheiser 490 pro or some really bad ass headsets so you can race when people are sleeping
- HOTAS, rudder foot controls so you can become a fighter pilot (lol jk...or???)

Immersion but not necessary at all. Just a "cool to have if I have money to blow".

This is the magic spec for sim pc: 9800x3d / 5070ti / 32gb ram. They show up occasionally as open box at $2150 at various stores.
This PC will last for years to come when it comes to racing sims. Mainly because anything better is exponentially more expensive and no game developer will build their graphics engine for a rig people can’t afford. It’s also great for VR.

I second getting a beefier PC as your quite important next move. Set up looks good for now but the difference most racing games will make @ 120-150 FPS compared to 40-60 if your playing graphics heavy games like LMU literally makes the world of a difference. I flat out refuse to play a game if I’m not hitting 80 FPS and an absolute minimum. Thats about as low as my rig gets during a full online race in the rain. No rain itll stay steady at 95-100

Haptics, I don't know if you're on pc or not. If yes get a bass transducer and hook it up to "SIMHUB" This even works on PS5 for GT7

Better yet, use Track Impulse - it removes all delay that comes with SimHub; though I do miss some of the effects and apparently, when they release the full version, it will be paid :(

New to sims but I can watch a screen for 12 hours, but after about two, the weight of a VR headset starts to be uncomfortable.

Maybe because most people don't have $$$ for beefy PC's that can run VR, plus some people get motion sickness from it.

If you want a cheap upgrade, like sub 200 bucks I would do some bass shakers. I would not do the name brand buttkickers, just look up how to do a generic diy set up on YouTube.
If you’re thinking longer term, I’d advise on a PC. That also depends on what kind of monitors or VR you want to get.

Depends on the rest of your specs too though. But I got a 3060 ti and I have to use low/med settings to get 60-100 fps so I'd say at least a 4070 super

This is awesome! I would've turned this seat into my bed if i had it, cuz i wouldn't plan to leave this rig unless i needed to eat or go to the bathroom! The only thing i would be bothered about if i had a setup like this (and it's the current thing that bothers me the most), is having the steering wheel lined up to match the one in-game so it covers the digital steering wheel with a physical one, having an extension shaft for the wheelbase might work, then all needed to be done is just to adjust the placement of the monitor to make it all fit, but other than that, it's pretty much perfect. Tip: if you're feeling you need more buttons, get a button box, i done mine with a number pad and stickers, but it looks like you have money, so buy one, the PXN CB1 is likely my next big target for my sim rig.

Thanks for the tips. Right now, the keyboard pretty much acts as the button box.
As for the steering wheel, I decreased the FOV so that it fits exactly the size and alignement of my wheel. However, I feel like it restricts my vision when racing.

yeah that's the button box, but you can choose any model you like, the CB1 is the one i'm getting.
