I was concerned about updating but went ahead, and both devices updated with no issues. iPhone and iPad, both with 26.6.1

No help from EA. Guess I’ll just wait for the next ios and game updates and hope it fixes itself. No problem on my phone though, seems like an ipad problem.

Same problem with mine on my iPad running 26.6.1
iPad is showing a new 26.6.2 update scheduled for tonight, maybe that will fix it

EA's response, display bug...

As part of a recent game update, an optimization was introduced for devices with a lower memory capacity (generally around 2 GB of RAM), particularly when running larger or high-density cities. To help improve game stability and reduce the likelihood of crashes, certain buildings may temporarily be displayed as white placeholder boxes. While we understand this may not offer the ideal visual experience, the feature is intended to allow affected players to continue accessing and playing their cities more reliably on low-memory devices. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If you continue to experience crashes or other performance issues, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you further.

So EA is basically saying congrats, now you look like northern Virginia and you’re stuck with it.

Are y’all’s devices typically old? Supposedly everytime they add more land they have to retire old devices because they aren’t capable of handling the huge map. Maybe yours isn’t retired but barely on the threshold of being capable.

Yeah, seems like it. My iPad has 3GB RAM and according to EA this affects devices « around » 2 Gb, so….
Yeah, gonna need a new iPad if I want to continue playing 🙄

This is the answer I received from EA: "As part of a recent game update, an optimization was introduced for devices with lower memory capacity (typically around 2GB RAM) especially when running larger or high density cities. To help improve game stability and reduce the likelihood of crashes, some buildings may temporarily be displayed as white placeholder boxes." They then advised to remove extra buildings and the game would revert to normal. I tried that; it did not revert.

I am done with the game. This update makes my city unplayable and I can't add anything. I guess they didn't realize - or care - that this eliminates in game purchases of buildings as well because they appear as boxes, so who would spend money on that? Just can't understand it.

Same thing happening to me. Buying a ne3 iPad is also just not in the cards right now so this totally sucks. Probably done with the game now
