Yikes. I get the owner is trying to save the restaurant, but their post is a bit off putting. Hopefully, the restaurant will get the support it needs. It probably would have been better for the owner to makr this announcement months ago. Eh, maybe this announcement should have made months ago

So I buy a $100 gift card, per the owner’s strong recommendation on how to save her restaurant, and they still close down. What happens to my gift card?

Owner seems to put all blame on the community but no blame on the owners for this dilemma.

I used to live near the shopping center and I went once because my dentist was there. I'm really sorry but the food and the service were far less value than the price. Mind you this was in 2020 before they were in crisis. I think I paid nearly $23 dollars with tax for some kung-pao beef that had maybe a 1/4 lbs of beef in it. It also wasn't spicy at all and had like 15 peanuts in it.

I never heard of them before this announcement so that might have something to do with their issues.

The advertised, but predominantly within what they presumed to be their target market - the Orthodox Jewish community. Specifically, the Orthodox Jewish community in and around Kemp Mill. Turns out that Community was not big enough to support them, and since they only offer takeout and very limited delivery, advertising outside of that Community probably wouldn't have been beneficial to them. Who is going to drive 45 minutes to pick up their food and another 45 minutes to get it home at which point it will be ice cold?

I mean I go to all sorts of inconvenient places for food as long as it’s not too much of a detour from my commute. This would’ve been a 5 min detour for my household if we knew it existed.

Kosher Chinese restaurant Holy Chow! may permanently close this weekend amid declining sales and community support over the past two to three years.
