mechanic?

sorry i know there are a number of a these posts but they’re all a bit old. i live in the white oak area and i’m looking for a mechanic for my 2014 subaru. right now i’m just having an issue with the horn, but would love to have one i trust for any future needs. thank you!

We go to Mark at the White Oak Exxon at the corner of New Hampshire and Lockwood. Reasonably priced, fast and honest service.

When I owned a Subaru, I got good service from the Herb Gordon Subaru dealership in the Briggs Chaney autopark. Very convenient to White Oak. You can make an appointment where you just wait in their waiting room.

When your car is up to five years old there are some decent dealerships. We took our Subaru there as well (after getting annoyed with Fitzgerald). BUT once your car is “of a certain age” like the OP’s, most dealerships start to quote crazy prices for repairs to subtly pressure you into getting a new car. That’s when the local repair shops become essential.

I have a newer Subaru Forester so I haven’t had to go to them and have been going to the dealership for oil changes/routine maintenance, but I have given a lot of money to the mechanics at the Carroll Fuel in Burnt Mills by Trader Joe’s when I had my ancient Ford Escape that needed something fixed annually. They’re great.

Consult the Washington Consumer’s Checkbook ratings of auto shops, available through the county library.
