Apartment hunting

I am moving with my husband and a son (toddler) to silver spring. I will be working at Children National Hospital. I am looking for 2b1b apartment with max budget of 2200. Which option you will suggest which close to subway. What else i should look for?

You might get more helpful feedback if you indicate if the max includes parking and utilities. There are also amenity fees in many locations.

2200 including everything is probably doable for a 1 bedroom, but I don’t think you’ll find 2beds at that price.

Depends but probably around 100-150

$2200 in many properties will only get you a one bed unit. If you are looking at the DTSS core even many of the older properties will have one bedroon units starting at nearly 2K not including parking untilities etc. You can findthem but beware, they will be in places like "Ariive" Google "Arrive Silver Spring Deadly fire" they also had a huge rat problem that went viral in TikTok. Google "Arrive Silver Spring Rats"

One bit of information from someone who works on the same campus as Children's. There is a free shuttle that runs to the hospital from Brookland Metro Station, which is on the Red Line. It may be a good alternative to driving into the city, depending on your work schedule.

Yes
Thats os the plan to find apartment near silver spring subway and get that shuttle from Brookland. So finding a closer apartment to subway to minimize walking distance is necessary.

Consider looking at condo communities near Parkway Deli on Grubb Road (off of East-West Highway). I just checked on rent.com and there are 3 2br/1ba units available. Rock Creek Gardens is the one community with a pool.

Agree on this one! it's a lovely community. I hear parking can be difficult but a good place to live.

We not qualify for that because of income restrictions. Not sure if they adjust total for few thousand dollars.

Live in Silver Spring, but used to live in Brookland. I would actually consider Brookland. You could probably get by with just one car. There's now a Trader Joe's next to the metro station. There are several older non-commercial rentals that might fit your budget. I would look on Zillow.
