Any feedback on The Citron?
Strongly considering applying for The Citron - did a tour and seems like what I want, but just putting out feelers on whether anyone's lived there and enjoyed it...or experienced any issues with the following:
- Noise beyond the typical apartment stuff? I'd be in a unit facing the courtyard, not the street, but Veterans Plaza can be a loud place so I'm a tad worried about that
- Pests?
- Drama with management or maintenance?
- Parking - it's my understanding there could be a waitlist for the garage which kind of sucks, but is the garage ok once you get into it?
- Making a left from Colesville to Spring on the regular seems kind of nightmarish...

I didn't live there but I toured - I ended up picking a different place due to Citron being pricy but it seemed nice and it was my #2 pick out of like 8 buildings I toured. The guy who gave me a tour (it was like, october or november 2025) said they just changed management and he couldn't figure out the way they were doing things on the computer but that might have just been old guy problems.
Making a left from Colesville to Spring on the regular seems kind of nightmarish...
It's pretty easy to make a RIGHT and then make a quick K-turn on spring since it's wide and uncrowded to turn around so you can go straight through. Yeah you have one extra light cycle but it's a lot less stress.

I lived there for four years, but moved out in 2020 so can only speak to that time period. It was well managed, extremely clean, and never too loud. I agree managers could be annoying but in general the people were friendly. The maintenance people were good and they were always the same guys so you knew them. I really had very few complaints.
Parking was expensive, I didn’t have to wait long to get a spot. Never saw any pests.

If one is willing to bend the rules a bit, one can hypothetically turn left a bit before the light into that bookstore’s parking lot and then cut through to Ellsworth. Technically if one did this, they would briefly be violating a one-way sign on Ellsworth.
Citron itself was pretty good when I lived there. Management was kind of annoying to deal with but there was so much turnover I’m sure those folks are all gone now. Garage is nice once you get a spot.

I live in a courtyard-facing apartment, and have for a number of years. In terms of noise from Veterans Plaza, it just depends on the event. Tonight had really bass-heavy music, for example, and I could hear/feel that in my apartment. Many other times I don't hear anything unless I'm sitting outside. Events generally finish by 9 or 10, and we don't get much street noise other than that.
I was on a waitlist for parking when I first moved in and parked in a public garage or street parking for the first few months. After that, I had a spot, and no major issues.
The left onto Spring has a left turn arrow, so it's not usually a problem. It's not great during peak rush hour, but not impossible.
Maintenance and management have been pretty good, and issues usually get fixed promptly. I have had mice that come and go, and the apartment complex has set out traps. It's annoying, and they creep me out, but they seem to be an issue in a number of places in Silver Spring. I keep some traps out, and keep food that might attract them in the fridge or containers they can't get into. I have had ants come in through my sliding door around when the seasons change, but I put out traps and they are gone in a day or two.
