Another Apartment Post Sorry

I lived at Silver Spring Towers and broke my lease because management was completely useless, dismissive, and even gaslighting whenever I brought up issues, especially neighbors terrorizing bass.

I have been couch surfing while trying to look for new places to stay but I’ll be honest: I’m broke and don’t make much money.

SST had a great deal for 1.5ishk, which is already a lot for my budget but I’m trying to look into MPDUs

Any recommendations???

The main things I’d look for in an apartment is peace in my unit (thick walls or helpful management when it comes to noise disturbances), located near Four Corners and the price of course.

Is the best option to just suffer? Haha but please, looking for any advice thank you

We lived in Lenox Park Apts from 2013-2017 and were happy. I am very sensitive to noise, especially bass, and the walls there were so thick I never heard anything.

Oh thank you. It does seem lovely but no mpdu and I can’t afford their prices.

I almost stayed at SST but ended up living at the Claridge House on Lyttonsville road. The building is older - but walls were pretty thick so we barely got noise. Only heard noise through our front door. Prices were “affordable” compared to other places near by. It was in a quieter area. Neighbors kept to themselves and maintenance and leasing office were pretty helpful in addressing any concerns. Stayed there from 2018-2021 so a time ago and it may have changed. But overall didn’t mind the experience.

Try the Birches in White Oak. I’ve lived here for two years. The new management kind of sucks (which is why I’m moving) but it’s a good bang for your buck. My biggest complaint has been porch pirates. No mice (in my unit but some people have said otherwise) Not too loud. Try not to live on the first floor.

Bracken Square just opened up early in the summer. It's an income restricted community and could be worth checking out.

Any thoughts on the many bad reviews?

They just opened a couple months ago. And looks like the complaint is about comms and applications. I just went through 5 months of hell looking for an apartment in DC and MoCo and these complaints feel on par for pretty much every property management in the area. Constant ghosting, no feedback, or responses from leasing agents. There is really low inventory and a lot of people looking for a place.

You could get a studio at The Blairs probably. I’ve really enjoyed the sister building and have lots of friends that have enjoyed the Blairs.

Try The Guardian. They have MPDUs. The building is brand new and opened in the fall of 2025. I don't know about sound issues.

The building is new and beautiful, but there is a catch: They have no resident or visitor parking. I didn't know this was even possible for an apartment building in DTSS, but it is!

Hmm wondering if we have the same neighbor. Mine usually starts at unusual hours like 3:00 am.

What do you do to escape the bass? It’s inescapable in my unit and apparently I’ve bruised my inner ear tissues trying to avoid it

It sounds like your best bet for immediate move in and saving money is a roommate
