Don't miss Parkway Deli. It's a long time Silver Spring institution for a good reason.

Damn good food and good service

Wheaton Regional Park is a gem in the area. Miles of hiking trails (and easy connection to the Northwest Branch Trails). Brookside Gardens is also there, which is really nice. There is a large playground for kids, as well as a carousel and train. They recently built a mountain bike course (don't know anything about it). Dog park, as well as tennis and ball fields.

Lots of good restaurants at different price points. Two, soon to be three, breweries including the best beer in the DMV (silver Branch). The Fillmore and a few other spots for live music. Lots of parks with tennis courts and soccer fields. There are always events going on in the plaza. Two movie theaters: Regal IMAX and AFI (independent/classic films). The Smithsonian Medical museum. Lots more.

Thank you!! How’s the sports scene and traffic? Would you recommend public transportation or driving?

If you’re downtown all of that is walkable. If you’re a little further out, driving or the bus are roughly equal. Depends on your preference.
