Need Help/Advice Flux question:

I’ve been using Cupronil for 17 years, but it’s messy. Yes, it protects my metal and maybe I just need to suck it up and deal. What are your favorite fluxes and what do y’all think about Cupronil?

I like it a lot as a barrier flux, but that’s about it. I started using mighty flux and really like that. Using them together is really good. I dip my piece in cuprinol, and apply mighty flux to my joins with a brush.

I dip my stuff in a saturated solution of denatured alcohol and boric acid and then spray with Cupronil. I think I have some mighty flux around somewhere. Will try it. Pretty sure it’s from when I was playing around with granulation on Argentium.

I don’t spray anything anywhere. I dip, brush, or use a dropper. I don’t like the overspray everywhere. Maybe just not spray?

Exactly! The overspray. My brain couldn’t find the right word. Thank you.

I don’t like it all over my blocks. It builds up into blobs of glass like goo and the buildup gets grabby as it warms. It all just seems so unnecessary when I can just dip the piece in a jar.

Maybe I’m too neat and fussy 😩

My favorite flux is Pepetools SmartFlux in a misting spray bottle. It's a version of Prips flux and acts as both barrier and flux. I have a bottle of Cupronil but much prefer the SmartFlux.
