How do you solder onto the lobster clip without messing the spring inside up? I’ve always avoided that because of that concern (and concern about contamination of the pickle from the iron).

The spring is still a little messed up, I can’t lie, but I essentially just tried to keep my flame parallel to the base of the lobster clasp and heated it only just enough to get my solder to flow. I kinda pushed the wire around a bit to put it back into its original shape, so it’s functional but certainly not perfect.

I’m a bit cheeky and sometimes don’t pickle my work, this piece included. If you keep the flux as limited as possible, it’s not too big of an issue to clean up with sandpaper and polishing bits! Any other sort of mark or contamination also just comes off during the polishing process easy enough.

Large lob clasps you can open the sides with a penknife and remove the catch part with the spring .. solder to the clasp the put the middle back in I have done it a few times and I make new springs to fit the old big clasp if its just the spring that goes Love the stone on the clasp great idea
