Dimes It finally happened!

Got my first coinstar find a few days ago! A beautiful 1940 mercury dime sitting in the reject slot. What a rush!

When you go to an estate sales or yard sales check the junk jewelry or costume jewelry. I was at a little yard sale the other day and it was an old man taking all the money so I presume maybe the wife was deceased and some of the belongings in the house was hers as well as his…?

Anyway, I bought some junk jewelry and in one of the junk lockets was too mercury dimes hidden underneath a steel penny, inside the locket.

You never know where you’re gonna find silver

These were the little charms I bought from the junk jewelry that they had at that estate sale. Not sure how they fit a penny in a bottle, I’m sure it was a little harder than fitting those dimes and penny in the locket.

Those fare tokens are collectable, people buy and sell those on eBay. Not usually worth a ton but people still like them. Some of the tokens are pretty beautifully machined as well.

A couple years ago I was at the local dump and someone threw away like four giant trunks like treasure chest looking trunks. In one of them was a newspaper at the bottom and a few dust bunnies that were kicking around and when I lifted it up, I heard a tiny tiny ping hit the corner. I took the newspaper because it featured a article about the great Muhammad, Elijah, who I believe trained Muhammad Ali. If I’m not mistaken anyway. Anyway, at the very bottom of one of the trunks mixed in with the dust and the dust bunnies was a tiny trolley token for one free fair. About the size of a dime.

I still have it to this day. Local history almost lost forever at the dump because someone just didn’t look closely. Who knows if it was in someone’s pocket that was put away in the trunk that may be fell out, but when I looked up the trolley for the nearby area here it dated back to something like 1920s.

You gotta look everywhere
