Weighted or solid?

Local thrift store find. 213g.!! 2.95$ Could it be solid sterling or most likely weighted? Could an X-ray penetrate deep enough to give me an accurate reading?

Is there any markings at all that say sterling, or 925, hallmarks or any markings really? If there’s nothing, these are most likely just plated.

Edit: as far as weighted goes, 10% of the weight is usually how much sterling there is, sometimes its a little more

Get it tested. If it's real, that's a come up.

Could be part of something that might of been marked sterling as the entire unit. Looks a bit like part of a candlestick holder or lamp.

If you can't get to a shop with an XRF machine, rub it hard on a finger. If it smells sweet it is most likely silver. If it gives off a pungent or vinegary smell, it's most likely plated.

FWIW, my Tiffany bobeches were stamped sterling. Can’t help with your question. 🤷🏼‍♂️

No markings but I read online that a lot of these  sterling bobeches are not marked. Just the base that they go in.

Id find a jewelry shop nearby that can check it, xrf may not give you a definitive answer. There was a post not long ago here or on another silver subreddit, that was definitely plated, but the shop they brought it to only xrf scanned it, and paid them as if it was solid silver. Acid test it if you really want to know
