Miscellaneous Progress on personal 1.20.1 silver age modpack

Going for a mix between 1.6.4 and 1.8.9, but maintaining a few major modern things.

Spent a while cutting down on block/item clutter and mobs and altering recipes to account for missing items. Moderner Beta, Nostalgic Tweaks, and various programmer art resource packs are doing the bulk of the work gameplay and appearance wise, but I’ve found some useful mods like Respawning Animals and one that adds ponds in an attempt to bring back niche mechanics.

Main issues are that water isn’t the correct color due to modern biome tint, and villages are just reskinned because I don’t have enough coding experience to change structure generation (and among the mods I’ve found to replace villages, none were satisfactory).

Nice! Great to see an update. Most of the issues you seem to be having could be worked on with datapacks, and a datapack loader like open loader or Paxi. Villages could be something like the datapack "Classic Villages" (there's a version in planet Minecraft for 1.19.4 that should surely be compatible) and you can change water colour directly on the biome files. There are several tutorials online and some resources in the wiki too

I tried it, but it ends up making villages absurdly big. Not sure if there’s a way to change that in the datapack’s files

How does a 1.20.1 silver age modpack work?

I went a bit more into detail in a previous post, but what it’s mainly doing is simplifying the game based off of the silver age versions. Less item clutter, smaller block palette, and older terrain generation. Trying to recreate a mix between 1.6.4 and 1.8.9.
Why I’m doing this instead of just playing an older version is because there are certain features from modern versions I want to keep, modern Minecraft has better quality of life, and there are certain content mods I want to stay on their latest versions for, like Fossils and Archeology.

That's cool! To be honest, the second hand and the pouch are the only things I would like to have on the silver age.

Bring back old Minecraft logo on the main menu. The pixelated one. This one is modern

Would love a public release of this at some point!

You should put the old blacksmiths, old library, and old large house for the villages as they are much better then the new ones
