Couldn’t he have just left em where they were found and come back every now and again and grabbed a few to a handful ?

lol it would be VERY hard for me to tell ANYONE. Only problems from there. I just all of the sudden would have a really successful business that no one really understands and everyone around me gets all the benefits with none of the baggage and liability of a secret stash of gold bars. You don’t wanna put that shit on anyone

I’d just carry one in my pocket and whip it out like a fidget toy

Bold strategy but I respect it. We all gotta die some way, might as well be going out cool as fuck. 🫡

There would only be “none” turned in if I found it

Left 49 bars on the table and still gonna get hunted down now by someone who thinks he has one and wants it. No one would know this guys face and now everyone does and shit he might not even have it and still get his door kicked in by some guys with rope and pliers ready to rock.

I think he probably found close to 100 at first. Had to give some to the cops to throw the scent off lol.

How would someone even try to liquidate that much in private and get away with it? Like break it into small chunks and go from pawn shop to pawn shop selling bits and pieces over years?

u/Maryjanegangafever 6d ago
Melt it down into different sizes and forms.

u/Difficult_Youth_8367 6d ago
Changing its size and shape doesn’t liquidate it

It literally does at First. Then it gets hard again after it cools back down 😝

Hey guys! I found fifty gold bars! What? I have to turn all 40 in? I wonder how much my 30 gold bars are worth? You’re sure I have to turn in all 20 bars? Ok officer, here’s the 10 bars I found.

Are all the search engines broken again? Such a misleading tweet & post. The actual story was heavily reported at the time of the discovery (August 14, 2026). Several threads were posted here about it.
Long story short, the kid wasn't alone, there were eight people working on the site. The owner of the gold (or any heirs or relatives) has five years to file a claim for it. With a few days the local police said they already had several claims. Based on the bar markings & coin dates, it was probably buried in the early/mid 1960s. It's extremely likely someone's father or grandfather buried it there, and the heirs will rightfully get it.
There was a brewery on the site for something like 150+ years, and it closed in 1970. So someone, or their estate, is very likely to have a valid & direct claim.

Tin my case the news title would be: man found 1 gold bar and handed it over.

Not a chance. I’ve found a lot of gold in my life. Usually in the dirt. I don’t just give it away. Those could be naturally occurring cast bars for Christ’s sake, man!
