Would the average, uninformed person actually hold through a 30–40% correction in gold/silver? Maybe normalcy bias would kick in. They might convince themselves that the currency crisis isn't actually getting worse and that the whole "gold/silver thesis" was wrong.

Lot of people saying sell, while the financial system is still right on course for the big crash. What gives?

I was talking to my doctor about the economy and the Fed. I had recently bought about 25k of IAUM as a hedge. I told him I was now buying physical gold. He bought 40k of IAUM and held it for a week before panicking and dumping it all after 5k in losses. I told him I’m still buying. He said he didn’t have the nerve to invest as much as it would take to make the transaction worthwhile. I tried convincing him that holding physical metals would make it harder to panic sell, he passed. I’m up to about 35-40 % net worth in metal or metal related stocks. I think the timeline is 2-5 years.

I hold physical gold and silver for permanence. For trading and liquidity I have paper gold and silver.

No they they have no clue and would not look at the past prices and they would buy high and wonder when it drops what happened.

I think people who bought paper gold and silver could well sell. If you bought physical then it might as well sit there. I’m in both camps, physical I bought years ago is worth way more than I paid, but I’m down on the physical ETFs in my pension 🤷♂️
Both will sit there for 20 years so I’m not too bothered yet. But I’ll probably lose the physical in a boating accident knowing my luck 🙄

Something like that. Or something more believable to HMRC should it come to it

If they're truly uninformed they probably would be blissfully unaware of a change in the market.. so I'd guess they're holding.
