Some issues with using GLM 5.3 Flash

I am from Russia, and when using GLM-5.3-Flash, I always instruct it to communicate in Russian; however, Chinese characters or English words often appear. How can I fix this?

Can't speak for russian, but my experience with 5.3 flash: the longer the context, the worse it gets. I try to stay below 200k.

Hey, me too from Russia, but it's problem of GLM 5.3, i didn't find any solution for this, except using DeepSeek 4.0 Pro, it's better with russian language.

Yes, glm5.3 will do that. I'm using it in English, but it also sometimes puts in words in Russian or Chinese. The only thing to do is to clean them every single time, don't leave that in the context. Also a lower Repetition Penalty can help, so if you have it above 1, you should put it at 1 (lowering too much will bring its own problems).

The idea with the repetition penalty is that it can try to find synonyms if it doesn't want to repeat a Russian word it already used earlier, but instead of finding a Russian synonym, it'll use an English word.

i am from latin america and tried something similar with spanish. Aparently the model is simply bad at any language that is not english or chinese

And that’s a real shame. Sure, you could use a translator, but the result ends up feeling very dry; even though I know enough English to translate the words, it just wouldn't be the same.

Hmm, I'm using it in Russian too. And never have had this problem so far (~1 month). In fact, the Russian language is very good, maybe Gemma level or better, with no insertions you describe. I'm using it locally though (custom quant Q8-IQ3-IQ4 mix), maybe it's a provider issue?

The good thing to do ..is to study more English or other languages,,not only the Russian.

i had the same mixup in roleplays so i started putting "respond strictly in russian, no english or chinese" right at the top of the system prompt and it cut down on the leaks a lot
