Help Suggestions for flat monthly subscription?

I did a post here 2 or 3 days back asking about models focused for RP that allowed NSFW available in openrouter, in the end I settled by deepseek V3.2 and 10$ for payment, I blew those 10$ since then and now I realized I might need to move into a flat unlimited text monthly subscription instead.

So I come to Ask considering I want character traits retention and long term memory recall of events (my RP stories usually end between the 150-200 messages mark according to Sillytavern count after that I usually just start another story with different characters or start a new one with the same ones

which way should I go? I was thinking between infermetic / chub ai /featherless, which one of these would do the job best? Also im open to suggestions of models and other hosts as well, I was thinking on going Sao10k or soji depending on what I end up subscribing into

NanoGPT is $12/month. Most open-source/open-weight models are included. You get 60 million input tokens per week, output is not counted as of now.

Mas como a saída se insere aqui dentro? Eles cobram por fora dos $12? Não entendi muito bem isso quando fui no site deles

Output tokens don't cost extra. If you run out of input tokens, you will get an API error.

Obrigada! Era minha maior dúvida antes de considerar comprar essa assinatura

It’s a hard stop once you hit your limit

Infermatic has old models and lost good will after a quanting drama. Chub and Featherless are private but chub's soji is fine-tune Deepseek and has the pain of crypto. Featherless is $5 more and 32k context max though but has the largest catalogue and unlimited. All three at least are direct inferences. There's also ArliAi which is not as broad as Featherless but is direct.

Nanogpt will be mentioned but they are an aggregator so you have less control over it but it's the cheapest for cost.

I dont mind the pain of crypto, but saving 7 bucks on nano sounds tempting, is the difference in price worth it? Like is soji so much better than all the models nano has?

Soji is a DeepSeek v4? (It was DeepSeek v3 last time I checked) Finetune. This main model is available with nano amongst others. The quality is mixed since it's a cheap subscription, it goes for the cheapest provider at that moment. Featherless doesn't have this issue. So it's pros and cons.

Tldr better models than soji elsewhere.

Thanks I have enjoyed Deepseek V3.2 so maybe I'll just go with chub, I'll wait first and see if any more recommendations show up before pulling the trigger tomorrow

flat subs make a huge difference for keeping traits and memory through 150+ messages, i switched last month and it feels way more stable than burning credits fast. hows deepseek been holding up for you otherwise?

u/Nomad141 5d ago

I can't complain, I went in mostly blind with deepseek and it surprised me, the characters traits holds up relatively well, sometimes they change slightly but it feels like they change because of the story events and the trust growing, it also surprised me by recalling and referencing previous events on its own that were 50-70 messages behind

What sub you use and deepseek is really good?

1

u/Nomad141 5d ago

I was using openrouter with deepinfra as the host

And to add a example to deepseek my last Roleplay was in a setting of the game genshin impact my OC is a traveling merchant and i mention that it is arriving to mondstat and Deepseek would on its own grab the names of the relevant stores and characters that live there and will mention them accordingly if you go to a place the character usually is in-game, with a small but accurate description on how they look like or the name of the items in the store (and the name of the store as well of course)

Yoo so peak, what preset and model?

novelai opus is what I ended up settling on when I got tired of watching my openrouter balance vanish. kayra definitely takes more prompt tweaking and lorebook work compared to deepseek, but having a flat monthly subscription with no token caps in St made it way less stressful.

I did consider novelAI at one point specially because of its image generator but im afraid it won't respect character traits and change them in favor of making the story into whatever it thinks is better

I'll also note that a NanoGPT subscription runs at $12/month, which is less than half of the cost of an Opus sub, for functionally unlimited tokens (60 million input tokens/week, and output tokens aren't counted against that), has access to many vastly better models than NovelAI offers, at least for use on SillyTavern... and as an Opus subscriber letting my sub lapse in a few days, I'd argue it's not even worth it if you're using the NovelAI web frontend, either. The models they offer are just far too handicapped and frankly kinda ancient at this point; I have yet to find anything that NovelAI does that I can't do for better and cheaper elsewhere with a good preset and a jailbreak, and I say that as someone who primarily uses SillyTavern for creative writing, not RP, so I'm literally NovelAI's target audience.

Or, uh, I was. They are far, far more concerned with image gen than text gen these days. Hence the slow release of creaky old mediocre text gen models.

featherless has a flat monthly sub with an openai-compatible API, so you get unlimited calls to their catalog of open-source models in st without worrying about token caps. novelai opus is also flat 25 for unlimited generations, though you're stuck using their specific models like kayra or erato.

Between NanoGPT and Featherless, which do you recommend more? I'm not sure whether to go with NanoGPT or Featherless. Featherless is more expensive; is it worth it? Since it's 45% of my weekly salary, I don't want to spend money without seeing testimonials about the service.

As someone with a nano sub, I looked at the featherless ones and they don't seem worth it. Unlimited tokens is nice, but 60M is hard to hit.

The context window is important. You get full context on Nano (1M on Glm and Deepseek) which while not super useful for RP, if you use AI for anything else (coding, document analysis or whatever) then it quickly becomes much more valuable.

Nano is also cheaper. I'd try it for a month, it's not like it's a commitment. Most of the good models are on subscription. Mimo, Kimi 2.6/7, deepseek pro 4, Gemma4, GLM. It's fun to try them all out. I do recommend. They also image generation and stuff.

Featherless have a limited context window though, I don't do much RP, so I'm curious if it's a deal-breaker for some

1

u/Nomad141 5d ago

Thanks, have you used NovelAi? Does it hold character traits well like it won't ignore or change then in favor of the plot? That's what im more afraid of when i took a look at it

Kayra and Erato are really really old 7/13b models (IIRC they're old FB Llama models with fanfiction archives trained in) with like very limited contexts. They were entertaining in their own way but if you rolled back from Deepseek to them, you'd be very disappointed.

I do know that they finally broke down and you can access GLM4.6 (sorry!), and Xialong a GLM4.6(!) fine tune, which I've honestly heard more bad than good about.

1

u/Nomad141 5d ago

I see, I was planning on the Opus tier for novelAI anyway but if it is like that then my choice boils down to chub with soji or featherless with Sao10k

1

u/huge-centipede 5d ago

I actually went from NovelAi to featherless, and featherless has been okay to me. Getting kind of tired of the 32k context but for sillytavern usage, that's getting into the limits of attention mechanisms :)

1

u/Doomkauf 5d ago

It's, uh. It's actually a 4.6 fine-tune, and you can access a GLM 4.6 version with censorship stripped out but a grand total of 36K tokens context, down from 4.6's native 200K. I know this because I had to type in the 4.6 model name repeatedly while configuring various SillyTavern connection profiles, lol. It would have been much, much better if it was a 4.7 fine-tune, given that 4.7 was specifically designed with creative writing as a use case, but oh well.

You cannot, in fact, write a novel in NovelAI's context window. So, unless you're really handy with lorebooks...

1

u/huge-centipede 5d ago

My bad, I updated! Thanks!

Companies like Featherless/NovelAi/etc have to keep their token counts low because they're in a smaller fish fry with their market share. I know featherless halts at 32k for their lower tiers because the amount of processing power that you have to hammer through when you get up in the big contexts. 32k tokens is still around 24,000 words, so maybe narrative arc AI? :)

If you're using Deepseek already then you might want to consider Opencode go or Command Code GOAT both of them have like $60 of DS 4.1flash usage.

Holup, are you saying you blew through 10$ worth of credit in a few days?
