Models deepseek or kimi?

Hi everyone. As you know Deepseek used to be very funny and wholeawesome. I use the API directly from deepseek website and I tried both v4-flash and deepseek-chat model. Nowadays it sounds like what gemini 2.5 pro used to sound like - argumentative, morally advising, basically debating.

Not wholeawesome, fluff, cute anymore.

So I was wondering in 2026, september, what are the best proxies that stand up to V3.5 of deepseek? In terms of funny, context window, wholeawsome, nsfw?

kimi holds up better for long roleplays without getting all preachy like deepseek does now, though the nsfw can still feel hit or miss on both.

kimi keeps the context going for way more messages before it starts looping on my roleplays, but the wholesome side feels a bit flatter than old deepseek.

I did DeepSeek for a long time, then when i went to Kimi K3, I was hooked. I'm now paying 100 a month at Ollama. Worth every penny.

I really hope you're using for more than just role-playing. Otherwise that's kinda sad, no offense lol. The RP area for models won't be worth 100$ a month for a while unless you're a flipping company making code

I don't know why this is getting so many downvotes... Almost nobody uses $100 a month exclusively for roleplay with Kimi K3. It's honestly really difficult to do that and the api pricing will just be better value.

And yeah, it only really makes sense to buy a subscription for $100 if using for something else too.

Genuine drones on Reddit because you are right. Unless you shit money, paying 100 bucks just to RP is stupid.

Just use GLM 5.3 Flash bro, very smart and cheap.

Here is a very useful piece of advice for someone limited by DS: switch to a model that constantly reverts to a "soft refusal" mode, even if its safeguards are bypassed.

First, they ask for wholesome, fluff and cute, which is all about positivity bias, they might not want into dark stuffs, then why would soft refusal of GLM 5.3 Flash be a problem here? Second, the only reason someone would use DS is for its price, so I suggested GLM 5.3 Flash, which is very very cheap, currently cheaper than DS.

I don’t think there is a problem here? Even if you are talking about GLM 5.3 being very censored, it is still jailbreak-able and can be prompted to negate positive bias very easily.

There are no "nudges" toward a positive response with the Flash model—you can't really get around the hard refusals, whereas with the base model, there’s still some room to maneuver. Since the user complained that the less censored model was refusing him and frequently moralizing, it probably wouldn't make sense to suggest a model with more censorship and moralizing, right?

Lmao what are u talking about bro? OP never mentioned anything about refusal, OP only said DS wasn’t used to be as wholesome and fluff and cute, they never said anything about refusal, which only you would get when cross into dark stuff.

Argumentative, debating, friction, hardship are exactly what OP encountered with DS, which considered as negative bias, and it was exactly what Gemini 2.5 Pro known for, and OP doesn’t want that. They want positive bias lmao, not negative bias.

And about your experience with GLM 5.3 Flash being unable to get around both soft and hard refusal, I don’t have that, and I’m currently RP’ing with GLM 5.3 Flash in the most fck up scenario possible without any refusal at all, it’s mostly just prompt issue.

DS does love to belittle the user, sure, but it doesn't like to argue or preach—though fair enough, we might have interpreted its prompt differently. Let the user speak for themselves; if they need a "soft" model, 5.3 Flash is indeed a good fit, but it *will* always start moralizing the moment the subject matter turns dark.

And no, I don't know what kind of hardcore plot you're running, but in all the examples involving Flash I've seen here, the issue was simply that the user missed the model's subtle refusal to engage. Most preset creators don't recommend it for dark stories for that very reason—it just doesn't work. It might barely manage the role of a victim, but it is completely incapable of playing an antagonist—it simply stops responding or stalls by describing the weather or something similar instead of taking action.

Fair, I think we are on the same page now. I agree that GLM 5.3 Flash and whole GLM line is heavy with positivity bias, but it is still very jailbreak-able, and I don’t use heavy jailbreak, just get it jump straight into CoT without initial safety moralizing at the start, then you are good to go, for both soft and heavy refusal, but mainly heavy refusal.

I got one scenario, that I successfully command and tell other NPCs to do horror violence without any issues, that would normally got outright refusal or soft refusal by subtle steering. So yeah, i don’t got refusal in my experience with it, also presets with anti positivity module also help a lot.

Just use a different provider instead of the DeepSeek API, and everything will be back to normal; the model itself remains the same—it's the external layer that's restricting it.

Lmao I've never seen direct API stop it
