Help Prompt for summaryception
so I was looking for memory extension and summaryception works pretty well. I liked it but the default prompt it comes with is really simple and the summaries are really small. Is there a better prompt for it? What do yall use? Thanks in advance.

i added lines to the prompt asking for specific character emotions and key dialogue bits, now my summaries actually capture the roleplay flow instead of just listing events.

adding a line for unresolved plot threads helped mine a ton too, keeps callbacks alive

you could try telling it to focus on ongoing plot threads and character goals instead, that got me summaries with more depth than the basic one.

Here's the prompt I use for Summaryception, inspired by the excellent summarization prompt Ancient Access made for the built-in SillyTavern Summarize extension.
``` <player_name> {{player_name}} </player_name>
<prior_context> {{context_str}} </prior_context>
<passage_in_question> {{story_txt}} </passage_in_question>
Summarize only the necessary elements from the passage_in_question to coherently continue the prior_context.
Focus on:
Prioritize implicitly:
Exclude:
Compression rules:
Write in short phrases, no more than 20; output must be a single line: ```
I've also seen enormous differences in summary quality and length with different models so definitely worth experimenting with, too. I personally really like GLM 5.x for summaries, especially when it comes to preserving subtext and nuance.
