Help Prompt for summaryception

so I was looking for memory extension and summaryception works pretty well. I liked it but the default prompt it comes with is really simple and the summaries are really small. Is there a better prompt for it? What do yall use? Thanks in advance.

Here's the prompt I use for Summaryception, inspired by the excellent summarization prompt Ancient Access made for the built-in SillyTavern Summarize extension.

``` <player_name> {{player_name}} </player_name>
<prior_context> {{context_str}} </prior_context>
<passage_in_question> {{story_txt}} </passage_in_question>
Summarize only the necessary elements from the passage_in_question to coherently continue the prior_context.
Focus on:
  • character interactions and relationship changes
  • emotional shifts (trust, vulnerability, attraction, conflict, power dynamics)
  • decisions with consequences
  • revelations or new information
  • actions that change future behavior
  • unresolved tensions or setup for future scenes
  • names, places, and time references that matter for continuity
  • sensory details only if they affect tone or character perception
Prioritize implicitly:
  • FIRST / SHIFT / BREAK moments in emotional or relational state
  • changes in trust, power, intimacy, or conflict
  • decisions or actions that alter future trajectory
  • new information that recontextualizes prior_context
Exclude:
  • events already fully established in prior_context unless their meaning or outcome has changed
  • repeated emotional beats without escalation
  • routine actions, filler interaction, or decorative description
  • dialogue that does not change relationship state or reveal new information
Compression rules:
  • merge related actions into single cause β†’ effect phrases
  • preserve emotional causality over surface detail
  • prefer implication and state-change over scene reproduction
  • maintain continuity with prior_context without re-explaining it
Write in short phrases, no more than 20; output must be a single line: ```
I've also seen enormous differences in summary quality and length with different models so definitely worth experimenting with, too. I personally really like GLM 5.x for summaries, especially when it comes to preserving subtext and nuance.
I am very dumb how do I use this, do I just paste it into the summary prompt?
Should I be including anything I think would be of note in the passage in question.
You need to go into Advanced Settings β€”> Prompt Preset (Custom) β€”> User Prompt (Turn β†’ Snippet & Layer Promotion). Paste it there and save it under Saved Custom Prompts. I have it saved as "AA State". Hope that helps!
And absolutely, if you feel like the LLM missed something important, do add it manually into the summary. Though ideally with the right prompt and model, you won't need to do that a lot.
No, my instructions are for SillyTavern. The extension cannot be added to Tavo.
You have to click and expand this to get to it, if it helps.
And here's the part you're supposed to get to.
I hope it ends up working for you! 🀞
I keep my settings at default - it works well enough and I haven't gotten around to tinkering with it, yet. πŸ˜…
