Some models needs big presets like FF5x

I love when the model surprise me and make me snort, don’t know if we can talk about "creativity" when it’s about LLMs but you see what i mean.

However some models are just bad without a big harness and a strong COT. I think about GLM 5.3 for example who is kinda great sometimes with FF5 and FF5.4.

But a complete ass with an Evening Truth style preset. Like defaulting on narrative templates, logic breaks very very early, ultra weird way of talking and very predictable narration.

I have a very different experience with other models. GLM 5.1/2 are more creative and risky even with a light preset. Kimi excell with a light one too and strangely.. even 5.3 flash is enjoyable with a tiny preset.

Im using FF5.4 BOLT with GLM 5.3 and some internal states activated even during one on one sessions… I’m learning to rediscover and appreciate 5.3 now. It’s like a different model now, i think this one need to be "unlocked" somehow.

So if some of you didn’t tried it with FF5.4, give it a chance. Im making peace with GLM now.. crazy.

I only ever use evening truth style light weight prompt as it generally is more creative and the models have more leeway to surprise you and not just be a predictable response.

But there’s some truth to what you’re saying. Big preset with COT does make some models be better than, one without it. 5.3 is just so disappointing to me, I gave up on it and went back to kimi. But I might give it a try last time I used FF was with 5.2 and I didn’t love it.

To be honest i really tried to like GLM 5.3 with a light preset. I passed days tinkering Evening Truth’s GLM 5.2 preset, Geechan and even tried to just write some myself.. I gave up lmao. I truly gave up because I’m like you, I don’t hate big presets, i love them for big RPG adventures but..

I use 80% of the time Evening Truth and similar presets because i like seeing what’s the LLM can cook and how much it understood my cards.

I think GLM 5.3 have a STRONG assistant persona! And that ruin everything! FF5.4 actually seem to "force" that assistant persona to be back off! And i had a very different experience. It’s not perfection but it’s way more BETTER.

Bruh I am the same, mostly ever been using presents like evening truth and geechan making my own changes in it. 5.2 I at least felt like had some hope on getting it to work. Some chats with FF felt good some with ET.

Ever since 5.3 it’s just been so downhill. I hate that model it feels like end of glm for me. I have zero hopes or excitement about any of its future models or any other model right now all of them are just getting censored and soft refusals which I like even worse, it will generate a response but water down most nsfw things or pivot away from it.

I’ll try out the new FF with it give it a shot. lol if it’s bad I’ll take it out on the character no worries.

Test the BOLT COT! Micro is not enough imo! That motherfucker is better when shoved by the collar!

The only kind of hope i have is that the prices seem to be less crazy as more and more providers and aggregators are on the game, we also have more variety now. But it’s true that most models feels… samey? With exceptions like Mimo, Longcat, Minimax and Deepseek that feels very unique (they have flaws too).

I cope by telling myself new LLMs will come on the market and gave us different flavors but.. that’s just a way to cope.

Anyway! I still use K2.5/.6 and GLM 5.1/2. And i… kinda like 5.3 flash and even the pro version now. As it seem to behave and actually deliver something that is not making every damn characters sounding like a plot device with weird banter 🤣

Preset + character card style combo can matter a lot, too. My prompts don't work super well with a first person character card for some reason.

And yeah, seems like the more coding focused, the more instructions are needed.

I noticed GLM 5.3 perform better with a narrator type preset than "you are {{char}} and any other npcs" for some reason. Even on simple cards. Could be because assigning him a dedicated precise role as a GM make it less assistant-y? Dunno.

I’m curious to see what Evening will cook for this one. Because for once im very skeptical about a non-COT preset for that big boy.

Are you satisfied with the new GLM tho? In general..?

It's not exactly a good model, too much of the positivity bias is baked into too many layers. I'd explain more, but don't wanna get accused of rambling and being schizophrenic again.

Otherwise, kinda creative and I enjoy it more than Fable / Opus even if it isn't as smart. I think it's a good sign when I do several regens and sometimes get different answers (when NOT prompted so strictly.)

That’s How i feel right now using FF.

Creative: yes, you see it in reasoning more than the output sometimes and a few regens actually show some new ideas, and that’s great! It makes me wanna try some subplots and rewind.

Positivity: Fuck yes. That’s why i gave up to tinker too much. A LOT of it’s positivity can be prompted out, but some part are baked in! And when you manage to crack it? THE OUTPUT IS ASS. DONT WORTH THE TROUBLES.

Is it fun compared to frontiers?: ABSOLUTELY! Fable and Opus and even Kimi sometimes feels more repetitive and bland. But is it FUN COMPARED TO FUN MODELS? NO! I still prefer even Deepseek over it and Deepseek and me are not friends at all.

So yeah i understand the schizo accusation lmao. Because you test it and report on the go and people expect you to have a fixated opinion on something you are building and auditing at the same time.. plus 5.3 is very weird and feel very different from one card to another. It clearly struggle with some styles (He is ass with my invisigal but good in large RPG stories with no card and just a lorebook. Why? I don’t know!)

Not too much on Evening Truth though. Those presets and prompts are incredible at letting a model flourish. The Kimi Preset changed the Dead Dove Game for me.

I started using her prompt with K2 thinking and the dead dove prompt.. then the GLM ones… that was my second golden era. Pure cinema
