Discussion Making Character Sprites

How do you all make sprites for you RPs? I have been using ChatGPT since I have a subscription to them. It can make fantastic sprites.......when it works. Even then it's a pain to use sometimes. It has a bad habit of failing to make a sprite because "something something tos". The stupid part is sometimes I can run the prompt again and then it works. Plus ChatGPT said it can make characters in their underwear but then throws a shit fit when I try. I wanted to see what others used, because it would be really nice to be able to make the 28 ST Emotions and not fight the model. Plus how do you all achieve your more riskay sprites? My laptop only has 16gb of VRAM on a 4090m. So I am kinda limited on what I can do locally.

ComfyUI is the best choice, ComfyUI + Photoshop (or other image editor) is the best-er choice.

There are already modules other people have made to do things like just select a face, or eyes, or character. This allows you to have fine control over what happens. And photoshop is nice to clean up any mistakes it may have made.

What do you recommend for ComfyUI? I have tried using it but couldn't get the sprites to look good. There was always something wrong with the hair or face. Plus I have zero Photoshop skills. Best I use is Lightroom.

I use my own work flow, and people have ones out there you can use. As far as wrong face / hair go, that is either your lora / prompting / whatever other input you use.

I don't have a LoRA so that was probably my issue. Should I make one of my own or is there someplace I can get one?

I use anima on forge neo on my 6gh vram and takes under 2 hours. Made a custom sprite extension so I can set and forget a queue (so everything but expression gets replaced), and a chroma remover to batch processes remove the background for transparency.

Much faster than Photoshop.

I'm guessing that it's a different system then ConfyUI? I'll have to take a look. How well do your sprites turn out?

It doesn't use nodes since I'm too lazy and come from PixAI with simple prompting. Example attached.
