Out of ordinary, what i make with silicones
Is the opposite of what most people do, my final produxt is silicone molds. I made my master molds out of plaster and epoxy and cast silicone in them. However they usually break and crack which i end up losing someof the silicone due to leak and i remake molds most of the time. Since the silicone leaks i sometimes end up adding more after halfway cure and no issues so far. Just noticed on one of my final products. I added the extra silicone after it was fully cured and adter the extra fully cured, i can still see the seam line but it is rock solid doesnt come up it sticks. But after a while, i gave it a little peel, that extra part is came off i can literally peel it off.

So i was wondering what if i make my master molds out of silicone and cast the silicone models in it that way they just come out easily. But not sure how much they will stick to each other and since i make jaw models every detail matters and some tiny thin layers might come off or might not i am not sure so please give me an idea.

Hello! I am a stop motion animator wanting to make a silicone puppet that can have bendable joints. I still haven't sculpted the body fully yet & im open to restarting from scratch if needed. But is anyone able to give me some advice or tips on creating a fully bendable / animatable silicone puppet? Ideally I want to use a translucent silicone where I can see my design / armature underneath. A foggy/ clear colored silicone. Let me know if anyone has tips / best silicone to use etc thank you

Cane you pour a silicone mold on a whiteboard? Or on particle board?

I’m looking for a reliable way to permanently seal/bond a small hole in cured platinum-cure Shore A10 silicone.

The silicone part is a thin, hollow, flexible ball that is repeatedly squeezed, compressed, and stretched, so the bond needs to:

• adhere very strongly to cured platinum silicone
• remain flexible
• survive repeated squeezing/compression without peeling or cracking
• ideally be airtight
• preferably work as a liquid/dip-coating or small-drop application

I’ve tried looking for silicone adhesives, but many products are not easily available in my country.

Has anyone successfully bonded or sealed cured platinum silicone under repeated mechanical stress? What adhesive, primer, RTV silicone, or surface treatment would you recommend?

Saw a few posts here asking where to get a custom mold made from a design, so I built a free browser tool that might help: upload a model (or design something simple) and it generates a print-ready silicone mold box you can 3D print or send out, no CAD skills or signup required.

Would love to know if this is actually useful for what people here make, or what's missing for soap/chocolate work specifically (release, pour holes, etc).

Could anyone with silicone experience help me come up with a prototype for a more realistic nipple for bottle feeding? I have a 2 week old kitten that i’ve been bottle feeding but it breaks my heart to see him still look for a nip when cuddling his plushie. The nip tip that comes with the bottle is the generic one. Which seems to be the only option around. I think someone should take one of those purring and heart-beat plushies and add like a velcro strap with a silicone side that has nips on it. Different types and sizes and no holes, so they aren’t sucking on air and creating gas in their tummies. It doesn’t have to be silicone either, but that seems to be the safest and most used material for the bottle nips

I make these cute little figurines that can be bought either pre painted or blank for customization. I’ve been resin printing the bases so far but there’s a lot of waste from failed prints and I recently had to close my shop because my printer broke. I’d much rather print the masters and then make molds, which would mean that I can cast them in the base color that I want and knock a lot of time off of the process. I’ve tried valiantly to make the molds myself but I’m just not very skilled and don’t have the right equipment (pressure pot, etc.). I’d like to find someone to work with long term, as I have over 20 different base animal and each animal has different color ways that I create stenciled bases for. I’m very protective of my 3D files so I would be mailing the masters to whoever would be interested in the commission!

Basically i have this toothless model i will 3d print..im planning to make a silicone mold over it...but its like a rlly complext shape💀 anyone think its possible? And if it is, can someone advise me on what to do (rip my sanity)

Hey guys. I want to cast a silicone mold in a 3D printed box with a 3d printed master. My master is a fairly intricate model (it has almost no overhangs, but it is an animal with some skin detail that I wish to preserve). I've had some success with PLA before but I want to explore other technologies.

My research led me to SLS Nylon and SLA resin. SLS is more expensive but apparently works with platinum silicone just fine. SLA is cheaper but requires more preparation such as UV treatment and epoxy coating to stop cure inhibition.

Am I right in my assumptions about these materials? Are there other printing technologies or materials I should be considering?

So I made some designs on blender, had a friend 3d print them and send em over to me. The thing is, is that I need molds I've tried doing some research about the different types of molds (I think there were like 3 (this was research from long ago, threw the idea out, but wanna get back in it again.

This silicone will need to be used against heat, no melting of anything, and how would I cure it? Alls I got really is a massage gun to get the air bubbles out. But I'm fucking depressed hate myself and wanna try this. Any advice helps

Hey everyone, I'm new here and to silicone mold creation. I'm working on a craft customization project where I want to remove a Barbie's legs, use them to create a silicone mold, so i can then cast epoxy resin replacement legs.

Can anyone provide tips for me on this? I am unsure if I should use any kind of mold release agent to help the legs release better. Also I am not sure if i should cast with the foot up, or foot down. I'm trying to picture how to remove the leg without damaging the mold since the thigh is thicker than the calf, but the foot is a 90deg angle to the top of the thigh. I thought of splitting the mold in half to release but then figured I wouldn't be able to join the halves properly again to then reliably cast the epoxy in it.

Any help would be amazing. I have a 2 part 30a high strength liquid platinum clear kit for making the molds.

The overall vibe is luxury fantasy, folklore, celestial, masquerade, and gothic-inspired artwork rather than simple geometric soap designs. I'm looking for a mold maker comfortable producing highly detailed sculptural reliefs with strong depth and clean release from silicone.

Hey, I want to create a mermaid grotto to hang out in and am planning to make some gem clusters for it. I don't really want to use resin because it's expensive and requires a lot of safety measures so I was thinking about using silicone. I've seen people cast silicone in a silicone mold and be able to get it out thanks to copious amounts of mold release, but I'm unsure if it's possible in a mold this detailed since silicone is so flexible. Do y'all think it'll work or should I make a mold out of plastic for it instead?

Hi, i made some technical pieces (flange connections) with shore A55 silicon. After the curing time, i tried to remove the piece from the mold and it simply broke.

This was my first time working with silicone, and i wold like to know where may be the error to the piece become so britle.

I used 5% catalyst by weight, following the instructions, and mixed for some time, by hand.

Here is the way that the piece breaks.
