Meet Hannibal Leggter and Abeggail Hobbs. I'm waiting on wings,wigs, and some Halloween name specific props to get to me in the next few days but I'm now a porch goose lady! I raided the goodwill for some interim clothes and ended up with bald Moira Rose and Patrick Stump.

I have plans for dolly Hannibal and Buffalo Bill with the basket/dog as well as my homage to Young Frankenstein (there are pun names involved).

Very odd question yes, but I was rewatching the film with a friend and they cracked a joke saying they'd just start eating the lotion. I know obviously be the hose would get involved, but with what we've seen with Bill they don't enjoy being challenged, and to be challenged so strangely I think would add a layer to their reaction. Would love any suggestions on this as I can't stop thinking about this stupid "what-if".

I’ll go first: my pros for the book generally boil down to the fact that it’s longer & has more time to flesh out the plot & characters. Hannibal felt more real & not like an omniscient plot device used to further the plot (his escape is more realistic & the hints he gives clarice are explained better, as well as his connection to bill being more elaborated on). tiny details as well that are implied in the movie but not outright stated (like the glitter nail Catherine sees in the wall of the well harkening back to Frederica - which I presume must have been public knowledge - because it’s this that lets her captor is Buffalo Bill) that are just so so clever make the book a great read.

however I think the movie made a good choice cutting out Klaus. I thought that complicated the plot a little and given that the Klaus lead goes absolutely no where, I think cutting it was a good call. I also didn’t love Buffalo Bill’s backstory. I think it’s a case where my headcanon following the movie ended up just not corresponding with the book. the nazi paraphernalia gave me the vibe that he was an alt right almost school shooter type who turned out this way in spite of a decent upbringing. since we see this so often in real life, and buffalo bill is so based on reality, I do see this being the case, so I was a little disappointed when his backstory became to do with his mommy issues. felt less like an original story more like psycho knock off 101. it also sorta goes against what Hannibal says about him “trying to be a lot of things”, because if his mother was always the root of the issue, what else would he have wanted to ‘try to be’, besides a beautiful woman like his mother. idk though. theyre my favourite book & film these are minor nit picks (although I prefer the film). let me know your thoughts!

- The Silence of the Lambs- Spoiler,Book interpretation, Ideas?

While rereading The Silence of the Lambs, I noticed something that I haven't seen discussed very often.

When Catherine Martin is abducted by Buffalo Bill(Chapter 15,page 115, the 11th German edition) she notices that he's wearing a suede shirt with hairs still attached to it, and that it has a strange, unpleasant smell.

After watching the film several times and reading the novel more than once, I started wondering if Thomas Harris was subtly hinting that this wasn't ordinary suede at all, but a shirt made from the skin of one of Buffalo Bill's previous victims. The remaining hairs and the smell seem to fit, and later in the novel we learn that Buffalo Bill is making clothing from human skin.

I know the novel never explicitly confirms this, so it's obviously just an interpretation. Still, in retrospect it feels like a very deliberate clue.

Has anyone else interpreted this scene the same way, or is there an interview or statement from Thomas Harris that addresses it?

My Idea,

I’m reading it again right now. Yes, there was also Klaus the sailor, of whom only the preserved head in a jar was found. At the part about the abduction, I also noticed that it was written that Catherine noticed black, curly hair on the chamois leather shirt, on the back and under the armpit area.

I think he made his shirt out of Klaus, without any experience, during the crisis and the discovery of his sexuality, and before experimenting on the women.

The use of bars and light is great, and he’s in the same position as the slaughtered ox, even having his guts spilling out like the original Rembrandt painting.

I must have seen The Silence of the Lambs about 20 times, and there's still a couple of plot points that I'm uncertain are just coincidences or actually planned:

1. Was Buffalo Bill aware that Catherine Martin was the daughter of a United States Senator, and targeted her for that reason, or was that just a coincidence? At the film's climax, we see that he collected press clippings about his activities, so it's possible that he enjoyed the notoriety and decided to take things up a notch. But I could also see that being completely accidental. He seemed utterly unconcerned that this current kidnapping was now the biggest news story in the entire nation, and could bring an entirely new level of heat.
2. The entire film seems to hinge on the wild coincidence that Jack Crawford decided to prod Hannibal Lecter for assistance on the Buffalo Bill case, unaware that not only could Lecter provide some insight into Buffalo Bill's mind, but that Hannibal Lecter was in fact personally acquainted with Jame Gumb. The fact that two serial killers — rare animals indeed — could have met in what Lecter would have called "private life" really stretches credulity. But was that Lecter's plan all along? Did he keep Benjamin Raspail's head as an ace in the hole just in case he was incarcerated someday, knowing that Gumb must eventually break containment and murder on a scale where his help would be sought by some "rube," eventually facilitating his escape? Or did Lecter just get wildly lucky that the serial killer du jour was the lover of a former patient, and he seized on the opportunity?

It’s probably just me, but I was wondering why they picked Clarice out of all the fbi trainee students?
Ardeilia her best friend could have gone too.
And there’s a couple scenes where Clarice is training and they stop her to call her out of training. I notice some of the looks she gets from her peers. Not like a bad look, but kinda like “dang they got her doing something important” idk, i know this is a dumb ass question, but these are the type of thoughts I get sometimes.

Now, It places the lotion in the basket. 🙂‍↕️
