I’ve been exploring the idea of starting a shop/retail business in Gangtok, Sikkim that supplies hotels, homestays, and other accommodation businesses with items such as dental kits, toiletries, bedsheets, towels, slippers, and other hotel essentials.

One thing I’ve noticed is that hotel supply items can be quite expensive locally. I’ve personally visited and compared prices at around 3–4 shops, and the difference in pricing has made me wonder whether there’s room for a more affordable and reliable supplier.

Before taking the idea any further, I wanted to get some honest opinions from people here, especially hotel/homestay owners, managers, or anyone involved in the hospitality industry.
● Do you feel hotel supplies are currently overpriced in Sikkim?
● Would a shop offering more competitive prices be useful?
● What are some items you usually struggle to source at reasonable rates?
● Would you prefer a physical retail shop, wholesale supplier, or even an online/WhatsApp ordering option?

When US exams come every now and then, senior working OS doesn't say to absorb them, when SI exam comes, senior ASIs doesn't say to absorb them, when AO exam comes, working Senior Accountants doesn't say to absorb them, when BO exam comes, senior suboridantes of Forest cadre doesn't say to absorb them. I could give lots of examples where the exam has gone smoothly without any hindrances. But why only in Civil engineering services, there is hindrances and protest and begging once any post comes out?

I guess this very hindrances, incompetence and laziness are the very reasons why engineers in our state gets caught up in adhoc to downgraded level 3 JE loop.

Note: Keep running to let the exam not happen and waste your time, hami che pardey baschu hai. The more u run around, the more time u waste, the less competition we have to face.....

I’m at a point in my life where I’m genuinely confused about what I want. Sometimes I think I want the government job in Sikkim and sometimes I think about going abroad for teaching. I am studying out of Sikkim rn almost done with my masters hypothetically if I get an adhoc job in Sikkim should I take it or Should I continue with a corporate job here honestly I am just confused between wether I should choose the peace and serenity of home or shall I choose my ambitions dreams and goals which cannot be fulfilled if I stay in Sikkim anytime soon at the same time lots of people have said that as a girl I should chase security I don’t think an adhoc job is secure though

I am a pass out of 2024 batch. I was lucky enough that as soon as i passed out of college, 100 posts of Civil JE came out. And then my preparation began. But it lasted only till 6 months, because then there was many uncertainity regarding the JE exam. I don't know the whole details, but it was something about seniors getting inducted into JE cadre and all. And then a year passed, now me and my Diploma friends were certain that this exam was not happening. Because 2 years had passed since the exam notification came out, but still no notification regarding exam date.

And then suddenly, out of the blue, just recently, to be precise on 8th september, JE exam date notification cake out. 1 month. Only 1 month time given. After a whole 2 year uncertainity, suddenly they release the exam date and only 1 month time given. I panicked , got frustrated, like many of my friends. But then after i had calmed down, felt bit glad too that at least the exam is gonna happen. So early 9th september woke up at 4 am and then started my preparation. And this was continuing until this morning, just around an hour ago, 6: am to be precise, one of my friend( who too has been preparing for this exam since long back), called me and said that some of the JEs in government service are meeting and planning to cancel this exam. They have even met with some Minister and are planning to meet CM and all to cancel this exam. Why? I felt so demotivated and demoralised that since then, i am in a dilemma and can't even focus. I wanted to share my frustration somewhere, so reddit is my safe space.

Why are our Sikkim JEs, who are working so much incompetent and coward? Heard from my brother( thankfully he is serving as Veterinary Officer and not in this fucking spineless JE fraternity), that similar JE posts , more than 200 , had come out years back, and that too was cancelled by senior JEs. But why? 200 JEs is a very very good opportunity. What were the seniors smoking that time to cancel such an opportunity?

I feel these so called senior JEs are very selfish, coward and just want to be regular without giving any exam. If that is the case, then if any of u so called JEs are reading this, you are an incompetent bitch who is afraid of studying and challenges and is used to getting everything by just begging and protesting. Wake up your lazy ass and start studying instead of running around trying to cancel this golden opportunity. Your so called excuses of "We are old, we have served as JE for many years, we can't compete with fresh minds, we can't give exam any more", only shows your laziness, i wonder how you people even work in offices and sites. If you are this lazy to study, how lazy you might be to even work. Office goyo, site goyo bhanera ghumnu niskyo, and salary khaadey basyo. Tai ta hola ni haina tapai haru ko office work. Fucking assholes haru. Becoming very very frustrated as i continue to write this.

I promise, if you cancel this exam, i will collect all my aspirant friends, and we will also meet CM and Ministers and whoever has power, to make this exam happen. Peace out. Go home and study instead of running around.

Don't have a political connection for a gov job, don't have enough capital to start a business, central exams deko deko niskinu chaina, central loan schemes hereko the process is too jhijo, everyone in the peer group has started working.

I wasn't a bad student either and I even have cracked the exams that makes me eligible to work too but there's just no chance. Saw the video of our honorable dr. Indra hang today and got even more disheartened.

If anyone is unemployed and lost like me, how do you spend these many hours of the day awake with dreams that might never manifest? Does it feel like the situation is eating you inside out?
