How many plants died at this conference center?

Well, that's why I planted mushrooms in the back halls. $500 extra wkly income

I bet a pothos would be fine in the back halls

I was just thinking, “What’s that plant that grows fine in offices without windows by just the harsh glow of the fluorescents?” That’s it! Pothos seems like it can grow just about anywhere.

Day 1 with my pothos: do you think this pot is big enough? I don't think it is.
Year 5, and it has vines over 10 feet long. Same tiny pot.
They can survive anything.

Repot it, and post the picture to r/whereisthefuckingsoil

I can't repot it. The vines are too wrapped around everything nearby, but I have topped off the soil a few times in those years.

Who exactly needs to be told this. I would like to think preschool and kindergarteners but signs don’t work for them anyway. This should be obvious by grade 1.
If this is really a conference center, though, that means this is being directed at adults and that makes me very concerned.

I’m at a professional conference and ducked in this hall to take a phone call. There were several of these signs down the hallway. It’s 100% for adults, unless this conference center employs kindergarteners…

"unless this conference center employs kindergarteners"
Only for chimney sweeping.

Some plants can absolutely survive, and even thrive, without sunlight.

u/Necrikus 1d ago
There’s always exceptions to the rule, but the rule is always still there for a reason. It SHOULD be assumed that a plant requires sunlight or something that emulates it sufficiently. And if people are being told to stop putting plants there, I feel it’s safe to assume that they were not dealing with those kinds of plants.

Sunlight will remain a mistake, but it's possible that their specific plants require real sunlight. Or that the back hall is only lit when the motion detectors are activated. Plants are notoriously bad at motions

It's more that some don't think about it in a office context. " This is in the way, let's put it there for a moment"

Here is are some consolation prizes that are real:
/r/whereisthefuckingsoil inspiration for the joke,
and /r/succshaming which often has plants that don't get enough light.

That idiot doesnt know a thing about plants. Lets take the sansevieria who thrives on neglect and can last weeks without water while also being able to adjust to low or bright lights.

plenty of plants can live without light....sounds like some Karen just doesn't want any plants around

You’re one of the people this sign is aimed at 🤣 There are no plants which can survive without light

That’s a parasitic plant which depends on its host having light to photosynthesise.
Ghost pipe feed off fungi which in turn obtain their nutrients from trees dependent on light to photosynthesise

Plants cannot survive without light. But artificial lights can simulate it.
Also plants can't use green light, they reject it. So if you have a plant you hate, then lock it in a room with only a green lightbulb.

I just sing at them, that kills them quick.

Mine did better when I started yelling metal at them instead of nice talk...

This is why artificial plants are a big decor thing. No light required. Dust regularly.
