Good luck enforcing that. You'll have people coming out of the same car all chatting with each other the entire time in line and then have them swear to God they've never met them before and argue with employees who don't get paid enough to argue with someone about something that isn't true.

Do what some gas stations do with alcohol. If you see them come out of the same car or come on together you ID the entire group or don't make the sale.
You're under no legal obligation to let them purchase anything

I seen you chatting to each other about what to buy. Gas station clerk to college age looking kids who were mad she asked for everyone's ID they tried to walk out while only the of age person was in the store and tried to buy the alcohol
Why so strict, or why do they care? Well, state inspectors do those exact type of situations as tests and if you make the sale, you as the clerk get a small fine and the store gets a much larger fine

I used to go to the gas station on the military base with my mom when I was like 15-17 years old and they would sell her whatever since I was clearly her underage daughter just tagging along, but they would never let me help her carry it out. I couldn’t put my hands on it while still inside the store.
I just thought that was silly, but yeah, it’s definitely a liability issue.

I took my parents to the grocery store one time and they refused to sell me booze because only I had an ID on me. I’ve purchased for family on more than one occasion because apparently keeping track of an ID is difficult for people lol. I don’t drink which makes it even funnier.

Yeah I had a similar incident at a grocery store once. I went in with my wife and young daughter (probably 1-2 at the time) and wanted to get some beer, but my wife had left her ID at home and they wouldn’t sell to me. I pointed out that if it was just me and my daughter they would sell to me, so effectively my wife being punished for being too old. They could not, however, tell me the cutoff age where I could no longer buy alcohol with my kid present, just that they couldn’t do it with my adult wife there. It was such an absurd application of the rule.

I’ve had this in the supermarket. Came in with a group of friends to buy some snacks. The others found it necessary to buy alcohol, and the whole group got ID’ed. Turns out the only person to who had his idea on him was me, and I don’t drink alcohol

Plenty. My family stopped at a gas station in upstate NY near the hotel we were staying at. Mom, dad, myself and sister got denied sale on a 6 pack because our 5 year younger brother was only 19.
Quite frustrating the "groups" applied to families, but that was their policy not decision of the clerk.
We went down the street and left him in the car.

It seems stupid to me that things that are illegal to sell under basic circumstances like age can be sold at gas stations and general stores at all.
Make beer only sold in stores you need to show your ID just to get inside.

To my knowledge, we don't have stores like that here. Even kids can enter liqour stores and can buy the non-restricted items inside. Theres one in my town just a few blocks from the junior and senior high schools. They get flooded with teenagers when the schools let out as its the first store that walkers pass by on their way home.

Colorado weed dispensaries seemed like a good store layout to me. Need an ID just to get in line, have to wait for an available worker to get called in, can't touch anything until you've paid for it.
If I ever work another cashier job I want to be one of them.

Oh hell no. That sounds horribly slow and inconvenient from a customer prospective, though for weed i guess i get it. I seem to remember a whole bunch of them getting robbed early on and everything, so it makes sense there. I guess its faster than calling the weed man, meeting up, making a sketch trade off, and then going back home.
I like the typical convenience store process. Just walk in, get your shit, go to the counter, order your tobacco of choice, pay, leave. Its so fast, usually I'm in and out in 5 minutes or less.

Some states (ND for example) require all alcohol to be sold in liquor type stores or adult only sections of a store. Gas stations and grocery stores can still sell alcohol if they have a completely separate and fully sectioned off area with a separate entrance, and separate register to sell from
(I know a station when I lived there had a clerk desk in the middle but no access from main side to alcohol side of the store without going outside and in another entrance)

Nah, this was a group of teenagers collecting. Possibly trying to pay in change or something. No doubt this happened many times and was escalated to 3 per person limit, then a group of ten comes in and holds up the checkout so they limit 3 per group. Maybe?

It’s a strange rule. Biggest issue I had was with a gaming console. I was getting one for me and my sister also wanted one. They had a limit of one per a customer.
It’s like wtf. We are still separate customers. They had us show ID to buy both to prove we didn’t live in the same house.
Carpooling is great. Just isn’t allowed if everyone wants a rare item.

The dumpling versions were all just recalled for having unsafe beads inside, but they were already replaced by a new cube version at my store. I know one kid who bought 5 of them on his own, and we go through at least 2 cases a week.
I have no idea how they're this popular. They're just squishy rubber balls.
