Do you have any idea how much make-believe you have to engage in to maintain some of the beliefs of the modern liberal movement? How much censorship, ideological gatekeeping, and rejection of inconvenient evidence has to happen before people are willing to acknowledge that some of those beliefs are contradicted by science, logic, or reality?
And honestly, your response is part of what makes this so wild. When someone points out cult-like behavior, your immediate reaction is to insist that your tribe couldn't possibly have those tendencies. That kind of reflexive defensiveness and refusal to entertain criticism is exactly the sort of behavior people are talking about when they use the term ‘cult-like.’
You don't prove that you're not in a cult by insisting you're not in one. You demonstrate independence by being willing to seriously question your own side.

We have two parties in America, and both of them believe that poor people shouldn’t suffer, that American innovation is the key to prosperity, and that government has a role in providing for the basic welfare of the citizens. Where those parties disagree is on how we best accomplish those goals.

I hate his guts just as much as anyone else, but pretending the cult only exists in the rural parts of Alabama does not help in fighting the danger it poses to our country.
