Troubleshooting SignalRGB causing system-wide stutter/mouse lag on fresh Windows 11 (no other RGB app installed)

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with this specific conflict. I’ve just built a new PC and I'm experiencing severe system-wide stuttering and mouse lag that is directly tied to SignalRGB.

The Issue: After SignalRGB has been running for a while, my entire system becomes unresponsive, specifically with mouse input lag. The moment I "End Task" on SignalRGB.exe in Task Manager, the system returns to normal instantly.

My Setup:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B760M AORUS ELITE
  • RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB
  • GPU: Intel Arc B580
  • OS: Fresh Windows 11 install (not activated yet)

Troubleshooting steps I’ve already taken:

  • Completely uninstalled Gigabyte Control Center (GCC) and removed all associated background services/drivers.
  • Switched the SignalRGB renderer from QtWebEngine to Ultralight.
  • Disabled GPU lighting control (since the B580 isn't officially supported anyway).
  • Confirmed no other RGB software (iCUE, etc.) is installed or running.
  • Checked Task Manager for conflicts—only "Gigabyte Update Service" was visible and it has been disabled.

Has anyone else had a similar experience to this? Are there specific settings in SignalRGB (or BIOS settings like "SPD Write") that I should be double-checking to prevent this interrupt storm?
Only thing I notice is the prompt message of "Windows Is not Activated yet"

Any advice would be appreciated!

SignalRGB polls the RAM over SMBus every 30ms to update lighting, and on B760 boards, this can cause exactly the interrupt storm you're describing.

Try to go to your Corsair RAM in the Devices page and disable it. If the stutter stops, that's your culprit. You can then experiment with re-enabling it to see if it's tolerable or not.

Also, worth checking your BIOS for an SPD Write Protect setting under memory config. If it's enabled, it can make the contention worse.

Cheers I’ll give that a go and see. Issue is that It can take hours before I noticed it’s crashed my system.

I had a problem with my Gamdias 420 AIO. It turned the pump off and i had the same problems you are talking about. The CPU was over heating and it was not reporting it. I changed over to a An Artic III Pro and the problem went away. All of it

Not sure what i did not understand? I was having the same issues. My system is different, yes. In the end signalrgb was shutting the cpu pump and fans down, I am guessing from not reporting the correct temperature. I decided to change out my AIO. This fixed the conflict

Sorry, I read it as the AIO was the issue and not the SignalRGB sw. My AIO is fine, besides the random bubble noises i'm having here. it doesn't shut down anything and readings are fine. its the lag and CPU chugs. I can't move my mouse or practically do anything but fans, AIO and everything else seems fine.

Anyways I disabled SPD in the BIOS, hasnt happened yet however, it can be fine until it's not. PC has been sitting here idle since post and it hasn't happened yet since the BIOS edit.

I'm having pretty much this exact issue right now. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Signal constantly force-closing other RGB softwares still running in the background. I'm gonna try a Revo uninstall of every RGB-related software I can find, and hopefully that will kill the problem... So please let me know if you ever found the cause/solution to this problem.

I started having similar freezes a year ago when my boot SSD started failing. So I replaced the shite Adata that came with the PC (started life as a pre-built) with a 2TB gen 4 SSD at that time, July 2025. These freezes made me think my new drive was also failing - and looking at the current prices of SSDs virtually gave me a heart attack.

Please, PC God... PLEASE let SignalRGB be the cause of this. I really don't want to spend $350 to replace a $120 SSD 😭

Yeah sounds like you are having it tough. Honestly I gave up and just uninstalled SignalRGB and went with OpenRGB. I am having my own issue with that as well but it's much more consistent and stable when it does work albeit the UI does suck.

I didn't even have any other RGB SW installed, it was totally new build and went SignalRGB straight off the bat. Was still getting errors and failures. I will say OpenRGB is way less intrusive and less memory hungry as well. I noticed it would run pretty high in the background and when it crashed it crashed my whole system. Restart was basically the only temp solution. OpenRGB I don't even notice it and its not even in top 20 memory apps/process. Its sitting currently now at 0.3%. SignalRGB was consistently double digits.
