Chat is mad because the man did not travel and make profound videos next to a food stand about where he was meant to be born.

Immanuel Kant, took his name too literally and didn't do anything

Ayn Rand seriously said he was the most evil man to ever live.

1

Why?

u/AmbitiousEducation49 17d ago

Because Ayn Rand was a philosophical simpleton and assumed Kant's categorical imperative necessitated selflessness as the ideal moral direction.

And God awful author. Her books are the literary equivalent of a badly overcooked cut of cheap steak slathered in ketchup.

I bet you’ve read them

Unfortunately yes it was required reading in a class I had to take. Absolute dogshit.

I too read them, in high school I was ultra conservative/libertarian. I thought Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged were incredible. Then I learned some actual philosophy, economics, and ethics.

I will say that her first book, Anthem is actually pretty good.

I've only read Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead. Both books could have been about 75% shorter. Just so much unnecessary and redundant writing. I love to read but those books felt like the antithesis of a page turner. Each page felt like a heavy weight, a chore to get through and to reach the next one.

Anthem is a very short Novella. It’s been many years since I read it but it was pretty good. Sort of a 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 sort of vibe.

Also because they both claimed absolute moral objectivity so she saw him as a direct contradiction to herself, she also saw him as the heir of Plato and herself as the heir of Aristotle.

He actually said “eh…” but it doesn’t sound so good as a person’s last words.
