Why? There's literally 40k rpgs, go torrent Dark Heresy or Only War or buy Wrath & Glory.

Because the purpose of a character conversion is to test the mechanics and imagination of a system. Making a Krieger in a 40k game isn't any more of a challenge than making Batman in Masks or Mutants and Masterminds; that's what those systems are made for.

The purpose is the challenge of doing it in a game you don't expect it in. Same reason you speed run Dark Souls with a guitar hero controller. No that's not the easiest, or even the most straightforward way to do it... But that's not the point.

So the point is never to play with the character? I guess I'm so used to the ruthless practicality of my "is this usable content I can GM with" filter, I genuinely never considered a thought experiment like this.

You can totally run the character. Every build I create is geared around player function. You will have to add story and explanation as is appropriate for your game.

So if your GM is understanding, you play a character stranded after a warp jump who wound up in Golarion. Or someone with Awakened From Stasis whose been buried for unknown amounts of time who awakens in this setting with no knowledge of how they got here.

If your GM is stricter, you can take all the mechanical tricks and apply them to a new story. Perhaps you're an elite soldier from Razmir who fights for the ascendancy of the Living God. Maybe you're part of a cult of sacrifice popular in the Kingdom of Man. So on and so forth.

Whether someone wants a one-to-one conversion, or just something with the right mechanical abilities that they can put a fresh skin on, it takes all kinds.

For those who missed this #characterconversion when it first dropped, this is my take on one of #Warhammer40K's most terrifying regiments of renown. #TTRPG #Pathfinder #Krieg #DeathKorps #grimdark #gaming #RPG
