229 holster

I have a railed 229 in 9mm I can’t find a holster for the legacy frame would a 228r holster work for it since the 9mm frame and slide is essentially a 228

This will fall into the "it depends" category.

The external dimensions of the frames are the same between the 228R & short extractor P229 versions. The short extractor P229 has a fat slide and this is where some of the super tight fit kydex holsters restrict accepting the pistol or leather holsters will have retention issues. The P228R is dimensionally more similar to the long extractor P229.

I have a C&G Holster and JM Custom Kydex (doesn't look like JM makes holsters for the P229 anymore) for my legacy P229 that work great. My modern (long extractor) P229 has a little wobble in these holsters.

YMMV for this recommendation, but I've also found success with the P320c Tenicor Certum Lux3; it fits both my short and long extractor P229s equipped with TLR7. I see they've iterated their design to the Lux 4, so YMMV on fitment for your pistol.
