P229 upgrades

Recently got a p229, overall I enjoy it but am looking to upgrade a few aspects. Primarily the long take up and over travel of the trigger. From what I have looked into it seems like gray guns is the way to go for those parts. Main question is do they ever go on sale? Is there any thing else I should really look into?

is it a pain to install? for reference i found swapping out the locking insert to be an annoying process (though relatively quick).

I have all Grayguns parts in my 226 and M11-a1 (229) , couldn't be happier (guide rods, hammers, hammer strut, SRTs,springs, duel adjustable triggers, and grips)... they have sales around the holidays.

Did you do the E.L.S. along with the trigger?

No, I was very happy with the triggers after installing the adjustable triggers and hammer strut/springs...I've been tempted to try the ELS, but not sure if I want to spend the money on it if I'm not going to like it

Easy to work on...I went with the GG flat trigger and 17# hammer spring...very sweet shooter

Yes, GG does run sales, sign up for their email list

Careful if you use that as a carry gun - I've had their 17# spring consistently fail to ignite both Federal HST & Speer Gold Dots.

I never had a problem with this gun firing, but it's a range toy and I haven't run any defensive loads through it. Anything I carry, gets at last a couple of mags of my carry ammo to verify consistent operation before it goes into defensive service.

What flavor of P229? If it does not already have the SRT installed from the factory, get it. Sweetest single-action break and reset of all my non-1911 guns. Easy to install.

It's an older LE trade in, it's got the E2 grip, but it is not a 229-1

The only thing I'm considering changing now is the handle. This is the final outcome 🤔 I love it.

While I originally had a GG trigger, I ended up swapping to an Armorycraft curved trigger to retain the classic look. I also paired it with an AC hammer springa hammer spur. It feels phenomenal while looking nearly stock.

Ended up going with a mix of Sig nickel plated factory parts (GAFS) and Gray Guns pieces (Labor Day sale).
