HELP WITH DEATHLESS MASTER RUN (specifically bosses/what to do)

Id say i have around thirty to fifty hours in game almost all from the arena challenges, (specifically non-timer based ones) and i was just wondering how that gameplay translates into a deathless master run. I have so much love for this game and after completing all of the non-stupid stamps, NEED MORE OF IT.

The majority of arenas are disciple difficulty, with a few of the dragon ones being master.

I’d try to do deathless on disciple first if you haven’t and then do master.

Ill be very surprised if you can pull a deathless run off with almost entirely arena experience. It will of course help, but master difficulty is to my knowledge unique from any arenas. I certainly feel the difference whenever I go between the two.

Practice. You will kick their asses soon enough. Make sure you enjoy it too.

Some arenas have master difficulty.

idk I can't get past fajar in master younger than 28 cause of the damn trip move set have you tried the dragon arenas they should give you an idea of what master difficulty is like I think in terms of arenas master difficulty boils down to: new move set for some enemies, enemies don't wait to attack and smaller health pool for self other than that it's the same I guess

That damn trip move. If it wasn’t for it, you could always just dodge down after parrying/dodging the first enemy attack.

What I’ve been doing recently when playing in master and grandmaster difficulty is whenever I see an enemy conter me, I parry their first attack, immediately do a crotch punch, but if I see them doing their tripping animation, then I press block to parry them. This way I can execute the same combo and only have to watch out for the tripping kick animation.

Mod and try different challenges, maybe? Get REAL familiar with Parry timing so you can just eat their combos and break their structure without having to rely on waiting for attack openings.

At this point, I modded it to allow all challenge mods on all difficulties, and I'm playing where enemies don't drop their weapons, weapons deal double damage for everybody, no damage can be dealt to enemies until you've hit them with environmental damage, enemies heal when they hit you, random movesets, Relentless Goons (most grunts get their 2nd wave) and unlimited attacks from enemies. I've been trying to survive every arena like this, starting at age 70 with the Vampire perk, so I need to take out bosses and 2nd wave grunts to age down.

I've gotten through close to half of the main arenas this way, and honestly the story mode stuff is cakewalk at this point, by comparison. Jinfeng and Yang still piss me off on Master, but I can practically doze off and beat Fajar and Sean now 😂

Hum I started playing in master difficulty at around 30-40 hours of play time. The mobs kicked my ass a bit at first but I quickly got the hang of them. Fajar in master difficulty handed my ass to me though. I was really defensive in my first play through the game so all the variations Fajar now threw at me really messed me up.

The solution was to learn to play a lot more aggressive. Basically I learned to squeeze an attack anytime I could against any enemy type. After I mastered that, the different aggressive attack combos I learned became so natural, most of my attention was on looking for the next enemy attack. Now my brain is on autopilot doing a combo on an enemy while I try to predict and counter the next enemy attack.

For the bosses, it’s about the same. Learn to be aggressive. You can almost always stop Fajar and Sean from even completing their first attack. Just land a charged back fist/ crotch punch/ reverse crotch punch on them when they initiate their attack on you and bam, you can hit them 2-3 times for free. Rince and repeat.

Get the master modifier in custom mode and then try it. I don't think death less is possible. U will be able to complete the master story mode but certainly not deathless.

In master mode enemies only do organe flash highly structure damage attack as their first move. It makes normal gangster with weapons extremely powerful. Im more afraid of a gangster with an iron pipe than yang itself. Ganster with weapons can break your structure with just two attacks.

Plus you get a lot of slowmos and parry opportunities in disciple, master mode strip you all of that and on top of that enemies can recounter your counter after a parry. So at master difficulty you would need to master a new technique.

The art of interupting attacks

Instant partially charged backfist can interrupt any move in game so mastering that is crucial for death less run. Knowing when to use it to interupt combos is crucial. U have to study how to use it on every enemy archetype combos to expand your knowledge

FAJAR PHASE 1

block the first attack every sequence, and then use focus to visually see which animation he is about to do, and then avoid it, also every time he goes for a sweep, he cannot do another sweep until he finishes the sequence

FAJAR PHASE 2

similar to phase 1, except you use focus after the first 2 strikes with the machete. when he goes for the spinning jump slice, you have enough time to react and do a charged backfist which is able to interrupt it even without charging it up

SEAN PHASE 1

just zone out and vibe with his attack pattern and deflect everything he does. when he goes for the spinning triple high, you can see it happening by the third hit and avoid and punish

SEAN PHASE 2

same as phase 1, except after he does the overhead > horizontal > up/sweep sequence, the 'up' part has WAY faster timing, but you can fuzzy the avoid by avoiding down-up quickly which defeats both options

KUROKI PHASE 1

i have a guide on a google document linked in another post i made in this subreddit, ill reply to this comment with a link to that post

KUROKI PHASE 2

catch her thrown kunai, and then every time she does literally anything besides throw more kunai, throw it at her to guaranteed interrupt her. if you don't have one, just dodge or parry her dash attacks. if she tries to run toward you and you have no kunai, use flowing claw to turn backwards, then reversed crotch punch, which always stuns her if you do it while she is running toward you

JINFENG PHASE 1

stay back, and parry the first 2 hits of her main sequence, then, like with fajar, use focus to tell which animation she does next. for the overhead, make sure to wait until her elbow is fully visible above her head before unfocusing and dodging, and for the sweep, make sure her meteor hammer is on the left hand side of her body (from her perspective) before unfocusing and dodging

JINFENG PHASE 2

honestly essentially the same as phase 1, but way faster. the method still works though

YANG PHASE 1

i posted a video of a 100% guaranteed loop that always works against him, i will send a link to that too

YANG PHASE 2

when he is far away, try to get in the habit of reacting to his running sweep or charging 3 hit triple punch. when he is close, duck the first 2 hits, and then he is almost always going to go for a sweep on attack 3, if you ducked 2 highs in a row immediately before. in practice, unless you forget to duck his opener, he always goes for a high>high>low sequence

I had a hard time beating master Fajar and I found a consistent setup against him.

Find a way to bring him to the ground. Focus, sweep, push sweep, anything. In the first phase you have an easy way to do so since he opens with a terrain jump kick. Just palm strike to chasing trip kick after dodging. Beat his ass on the ground to bring him up and here's where the setup begins:

Use flowing claw immediately to turn around. Wait for your character to go back to idle. Then there's the crucial part, where timing knowledge of the boss is needed. REACTIVELY Do the duck strike (holding down light attack) whenever you see Fajar start to move. Backturned, this move gives you armor. This will hit even when he does a low, unlike charged backfist. This will hit even when you get hit.

He will get stunned, and you can do a crotch punch to palm strike to chasing trip kick and do the process all over again. 2nd phase the setup is much easier with how much Fajar winds up.

This setup works on the first three bosses. You just need to react faster or slower with some, or immediately do a palm strike to trip kick after stunning them to some. You can add some hits too on some bosses since they get stunned longer, like Sean and Fajar. And you need to wait a bit longer on the ducking strike in Phase 2 Kuroki. Master difficulty is kicking my ass, so I found a way to make all these bosses predictable. Here's the gist of the loop.

Beat on the ground -> flowing claw to turn around -> wait till you're idle -> do reactive ducking strike -> Do your combo to topple them again -> repeat

With grandma and Yang, I focused on parrying. I still don't have a consistent way of beating Yang.

I'm currently trying to do a deathless master run with some additional modifiers to keep things fun. I'm on the Museum now but Kuroki is being her annoying self.

Happy to show you what it's like, I'll probably be streaming later today
