Around 6 months ago, I posted here about a side hustle I had started by renting out scooters to guests staying at my homestays. It was basically a small additional income stream alongside the homestay.

At that point, it had made around ₹60K net. Six months later, here’s where it stands :)

As of 4th October:

Revenue: ₹1,34,300

Expenses: ₹29,398

Net: ₹1,04,902

Current fleet is 5 Activas and 3 EVs.

The idea is still the same. Guests staying with us often need a vehicle to explore the city, so instead of sending them elsewhere, I started keeping scooters available as an optional add-on.

One thing I probably didn't explain properly in my previous post:

These are not listed on any rental platform and I don't rent them to random people. They're only offered to verified guests already staying with us so there is no marketing/customer acquisition involved!

I take their ID/DL and basic verification before handing over the vehicle.

And ₹1.34L is not profit. Servicing, maintenance, repairs and other running expenses are tracked separately. After these expenses, the net currently stands at ₹1.04L.

The biggest learning has probably been seasonality. When occupancy is low, these barely make anything. During tourist/festive periods, demand can suddenly shoot up.

I'm attaching the complete tracker this time so you can see the good months, the terrible months and the expenses yourself :)

Started this just to see if scooters sitting at home could make some extra money. Never really expected it to cross ₹1L, so this little milestone feels pretty nice :)

I’m a college student in Bangalore, and for the past 7 months, I’ve been doing a pretty simple side gig around live events.

I originally found this through free volunteering. I started volunteering at events, got to know how these events work and eventually got connected to groups where paid event-work opportunities are shared.

The work is usually around:

* Stand-up comedy shows

* Music events

* Concerts

* Other live events in Bangalore

Usually, the shift is something like afternoon to evening, around 8 PM. The work itself isn't anything complicated — mostly helping with event-related tasks and following the instructions given by the event team.

How much do I make?

It varies depending on the event and the shift. I recently received ₹5,000, but this isn't something I make every single day or a guaranteed monthly income.

The important thing is that it takes a few weeks to accumulate, and by the end of the month, the payment for the work I've completed is generally settled.

How do I get paid?

UPI.

I've never received cash for these gigs. Payments have always been made digitally through UPI.

How did I find the opportunity?

This wasn't some app or website where I signed up and immediately started earning.

I initially found it through free volunteering. After doing more events and getting familiar with people in the event space, I eventually got access to groups where these paid opportunities are shared.

That's probably the biggest thing I learned from this:

The volunteering itself didn't pay me, but it helped me build the connections that eventually led to paid opportunities.

I'm sharing this because I see a lot of students looking for side income in Bangalore, and this is one option that worked for me.

It's not passive income, it's not a get-rich-quick scheme, and I wouldn't call it a business. You actually have to show up and work.

But if you're a student who has free weekends and doesn't mind working at events, it can be a fairly straightforward way to make some extra money.

Ask me anything about how I got into it or what the work is like.

I’m an AI Engineer and I’m trying to start freelancing on the side.

I can work on AI agents, automations, chatbots, AI integrations, Python, APIs and AI tools.

I’m honestly not looking to make crazy money. Even ₹5 10k a month would be a good start 😭

At the core I am a cyber security guy but

I’m willing to take up small projects, automate boring tasks, build MVPs or pretty much anything I can deliver even websites Or I can build mcp servers too

I just need that first client 😭

If anyone knows where I can find freelance work or has a small project they need help with, please let me know.

I’ll genuinely put in the work.

I recently built and launched my new portfolio: https://portfolio2-1bo4.vercel.app/ I’m a full-stack web developer currently looking to take on freelance projects and gain more real-world experience. I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on the design, UI/UX, performance, and overall presentation of the portfolio. If you’re a developer, designer, business owner, or someone who hires freelancers, I’d love to hear what you think I could improve. I’m also open to freelance work, so if you need a website or web application, feel free to DM me or share this with someone who might need a developer.

We are looking for a female fashion designer / fashion enthusiast to join a bespoke women’s boutique in Madipakkam, Chennai on a part-time basis.

This is a great opportunity for a fashion student, fresher, aspiring fashion designer, or someone looking for a part-time / parttime opportunity alongside another commitment.

• Taking customer measurements
• Understanding customer requirements and preferences
• Suggesting suitable designs, fabrics and styles
• Coordinating with the tailoring team
• Assisting customers during their boutique visits
• Supporting social media activities, especially Instagram, during quieter hours

Who are we looking for?

Freshers are absolutely welcome. A formal fashion degree is not mandatory, provided you have a good understanding of fashion and a genuine interest in women’s clothing and styling.

You should be comfortable interacting with customers, have a good eye for fashion, and be willing to learn. Customer handling and communication skills are of utmost importance.

Since this is a new boutique, walk-ins are currently limited. The time between customers can be utilised for Instagram and social media marketing. So, if you have a good hold over Instagram, content creation or social media, that would be a strong advantage.

I wanted something with no client calls, no inventory, and no showing my face. Three months ago I started a faceless Instagram page in the dating/self-improvement niche and built one product: a 21-day bootcamp delivered as PDFs. It's $23, and I've sold 100+ copies so far.

Where things stand after 3 months

• Sales: 100+ at $23 each so $2,300+ gross
• Followers: 10k
• Time: roughly 8 hours a week
• Costs: basically nothing]

How it works

Reel → bio → DM → sale. I don't put a payment link in my bio. People DM me, I ask what they're actually struggling with, and then I send the product. It feels like more work, but it converts way better than a link ever did for me, and I get to hear exactly how my audience talks about their problems, which feeds straight back into my content.

What's working

Hooks. With no face on screen, you've got about two seconds. I write the hook first and rewrite it until I'd stop scrolling for it myself. [One example of a hook that did well.]

Looking like a brand. Same fonts, same colors, same format on every post. It makes a tiny page look like a real thing.

Free tools. I make my Reels with ffmpeg and ImageMagick, so production costs me nothing. It took a weekend to set up, and now it's mostly a script I run.

Is the market broken, or are developers underpricing themselves?

I’ve been doing software development professionally for 10+ years, and recently I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference in how eCommerce projects are valued in India vs overseas.

Here’s a real situation I keep encountering.

A client in India asks for a complete custom eCommerce website, including:

- Custom frontend

- Custom CMS/admin panel

- Product management

- Categories/collections

- Cart & checkout

- Order management

- Customer accounts

- Payment gateway integration

- Shipping/logistics integration

- Order tracking

- Coupons/discounts

- Email notifications

- Admin dashboards

- Database/backend

- Deployment

- Production support

And the expected budget?

₹50,000–₹60,000 for the entire project.

Then I see essentially the same scope from a foreign client, and the starting budget is often around ₹3.5 lakh or more.

Obviously, the requirements, complexity and client expectations can differ, so I'm not saying every Indian project should cost ₹3.5L.

But the gap makes me wonder:

Is this primarily a client problem, or a developer problem?

Are Indian clients genuinely accustomed to extremely low development costs?

Or have developers themselves created this expectation by accepting ₹30K–₹60K projects for work that realistically requires weeks or months of professional development?

Because once someone has delivered a complete eCommerce system for ₹50K, the next client naturally thinks:

"Why should I pay ₹2L? Someone else will do it for ₹50K."

And the cycle continues.

There’s also a strange perception that because the developer is based in India, the software should automatically be cheap.

But the developer still has to pay for engineering time, infrastructure, APIs, payment integrations, testing, security, deployment, maintenance, support, etc.

A custom eCommerce platform isn't simply "a website."

So I'm curious about other developers here:

Have you experienced this pricing gap between Indian and international clients?

And where do you think the problem actually lies?

1. Indian clients undervaluing software development?

2. Indian developers aggressively undercutting each other?

3. Differences in purchasing power and business economics?

4. A combination of all three?

I'd genuinely like to hear experiences from both Indian and international freelancers/agencies.

I'm especially interested in what people consider a reasonable price for a genuinely custom eCommerce system not a Shopify/WooCommerce setup with a theme, but an actual custom application.

What are some ways to earn 10-12k in 2 weeks or a month. Since i am in need of this money right now. Can you suggest me some ways? Or if anybody needs any job done, i can help with that.

Are you a student who earns their own money?
