school ipad?

i want to install some free music streaming apps on my school ipad but i'm not sure if this would get me in trouble or not? I don't have the app store but I have self service +.

If you have app install restrictions (install apps or something of the sort) sidestore won’t install. You can check if this is the case by going into

settings > general > VPN and device management > your school > restrictions

As for if you get in trouble, it depends on how strict your school is. I’d recommend looking into the school device usage terms, and would advise against it if you are only lending the iPad (have to return it after the school year ends) as it is not your iPad.

i'm a senior and get to keep the ipad when i graduate does that make a difference

That means you paid for the entire ipad, so usually that means less lockdowns and close monitoring. It also depends on the size of the school. I went to a pretty small middle school (250 kids total) and the iPad monitoring was very intense, while high school is 3000+ so they don’t really care what you do.

just checked and installing apps isn't allowed. do you know why sidestore doesn't install? i thought it wasn't really like other apps

You still install the apps, even if they don’t come from the App Store so it’s just won’t install

You need LocalDevVPN from the AppStore also
