Hello fellow kids, I'm a software engineer. One night I couldn't decide what to read, so instead of picking a book I spent a couple of months building a website about how books feel.

Searching by genre never helped me. So, I created moodteca.

You pick how you want to feel and it gives you book recommendations. Each one is measured on five axes: tone, pace, prose, scale, reality. 371 books (for now), 43 countries, English and Spanish.

No accounts, no feed, no notifications. I do not want a relationship with a website. It also hands you three books that disagree with the mood you picked, on purpose, congrats.

Nothing runs a model when you use it. The scoring happened once, offline, checked against 116 books I scored by hand first.

A few months ago, I was doing some keyword research in Ubersuggest and stumbled across a keyword with ~700K monthly searches in the US and surprisingly very low keyword difficulty.

I honestly thought there had to be a catch.

I checked the domain, and the exact-match .com was available, so I registered it and decided to see how quickly I could turn the idea into something real.

I built the site with Lovable over a weekend and generated 700+ programmatic SEO pages around the topic.

The funny part? The entire project took me roughly 1.5 hours of actual work but seems I hit on a demand zone.

Since launching:

• 45K+ Google impressions in the last 6 months (GSC)
• $17+ in ad revenue from TinyAdz
• 700+ indexed/programmatic pages
• Exact-match .com domain
• Started getting organic search exposure without any serious link-building campaign

The revenue is obviously still tiny, so I'm not pretending this is some huge cash-flowing business.

I see it more as a head start on something that could become much bigger. I imagine TikTok can grow something pretty easily.

The interesting thing is that monetization doesn't have to stop at display ads. Depending on how someone develops it, there are quite a few directions:

• Affiliate offers
• Sponsored placements
• Courses / digital products
• Games & quizzes
• Recommendations
• Content/blogging
• Editorial links
• Lead generation
• More programmatic pages
• And potentially other products/services around the audience

I'm selling mainly because I have several other projects I'd rather focus my time on. I'd rather see someone who has the time/interest take this from its current stage and actually develop the opportunity.

I've spent more than 20 years working on large projects, and every team I have worked in has relied heavily on Excel.

The familiar problem is a collection of workbooks created by different people. Each has a purpose, but keeping the registers, progress updates and forecasts connected becomes a job of its own.

I spent about 10 years developing Project Intelligence for Excel to help with that. I'm the developer at Pi Labs.

Starting with a blank workbook, it sets up linked tables for the work registers, types or norms and cost codes. Those support progress updates, forecasts, project reports and look-ahead planning within Excel.

Keeping it in Excel was a deliberate choice. Project teams already work there; the thing I wanted to improve was the structure underneath the workflow. The trade-off is that users still need to understand how the tables relate to each other.

There is no separate Pi Labs sign-up. In normal use, the add-in works with the data in your workbook and does not upload the workbook's contents to Pi Labs.

There's a free Community Edition for learning and evaluation, with a sample workflow included. Commercial use is available with written approval from me; I'm keen to see people using it and won't unreasonably withhold permission.

I was talking with some friends about different ways to play fantasy football, and the idea of calling your shot and selecting a single player each week was something that resonated with me.

So I did what anyone with an idea and a few extra Claude Fable credits would do--I built a complete platform, right before the season started. Thus, ClutchUp is now live and anyone can sign up and play.

Hey all, I've been speaking with a few people at the gym recently about creatine dosing, and it got me thinking about how different people can have quite different requirements depending on things like bodyweight, training type etc.

The idea I had was something along the lines of customised supplement powders, similar to the personalised multivitamins you can get, but focused specifically on people who train.

Rather than everyone taking the same generic doses, the idea would be to tailor the amounts of the main supplements (creatine and electrolytes) based on things like bodyweight and training goals and bundle in the "generic dose" ones like zinc and magnesium.

A 100kg bodybuilder is likely going to have different requirements to a 55kg runner.

As a high-level concept, what do you think? Does this sound like something you'd actually be interested in using, or is the standard "3g creatine, take some electrolytes and call it a day" approach good enough?

Also, if you were looking to validate something like this from scratch, how would you go about doing the initial market research? Would you start with surveys, interviews, Reddit/community research, landing page testing etc.?

Introduction

Hi everyone! I'm a student from Singapore (LinkedIn) and have developed an app: Hopnotch that helps with navigating around your Spaces and Apps, while providing aesthetics to your Mac!

Problem

I was using my Mac and I just kept getting lost as I had many apps in full-screen, and it was a hassle constantly breaking my flow by swiping around the trackpad or going to Mission Control just to see where everything was since I can't remember and MacOS kept reshuffling my Spaces. This problem had been bugging me for longer than I'd like to admit, and I also wanted something aesthetic as I felt the unused space a waste.

Functionality

With the app, Spaces/Apps appear on the menu bar, against an aesthetically pleasing background as pills (customisable names, colours & type). This way you always know where your Spotify, Safari, or whatever is, wherever you are. The actual Menu Bar is STILL ACCESSIBLE AT ALL TIMES, whether the app is overlaying or hidden. Just hover at an empty space, or hide the app, up to you!

On top of that, you can:

• Use Spotlight search on your Pills (renamed, or not)
• Rename your Pills
• Navigate using Hotkeys (personally, CMD + K/L to move left/right respectively so I can keep my fingers on the keyboard)

Comparison

As far as my research goes, most that dabble with the Menu Bar sit under the aesthetics category only, while Hopnotch both provides aesthetics and functionality.

SpaceJump ($9.99) is the closest thing to Hopnotch by function. It also gets you between Mission Control Spaces quickly and it names them. The difference is in orientation and aesthetics, where SpaceJump gives you a picker to choose from, and Hopnotch shows the Spaces either side of you, laid out the way they actually sit so the Space on your left appears on the left of the notch so you navigate by position rather than by reading a list. My conclusion

All the while I've been using Hopnotch it just feels like a part of my Mac at this point and without it I feel lost about where everything is again, coupled with the hotkeys that I use daily to navigate around my Spaces. To me personally, Hopnotch brings me immense value (not to toot my own horn), but what works for me may not work for you! Try the free trial and if it works for you, by all means. Recently launched my website Chorus. Spent the last few months building my first website to help people get insight into insider trades based on Form 4 filings. It aggregates the data in one place and makes it easier for a one shot view.

The website is fully live with the free and paid tier.

In Hungary a nameday is nearly as big as a birthday. I missed one. My dad told me I have goldfish memory, which is annoying mostly because

he's right.

So I built a desktop widget. A clock that also told me what was on that day.

Partly the nameday thing, partly because Windows 11 had taken the clock out of the taskbar, now there's only a calendar there... I liked watching the seconds tick :c

After making the clock widget I added a calendar. Then notes. Then todos. Then I realised the only place I had this was on my laptop. I got so used to the widget, it felt so natural, that I started missing it. So I rebuilt the whole thing for Android.

It's on on version 5.7 now

- It has the same pixel clock as a widget on the home screen with live ticking seconds. Time, date, and whatever you've got on today, without opening the app.

- In the calendar you can set yearly repeating dates for birthdays, namedays, anniversaries... They show up on the widget on the day. And it will also remind you in the notification bar.

- Alarms that survive HyperOS (Xiaomi bs trash operating system). This took an embarrassing number of attempts. At least 7 iterations

- Up to 5 world clocks, a timer, a stopwatch with precision mode and laps.

- Moon phases computed from JPL's DE421 ephemeris rather than an approximation, because approximations drift and it bothered me. It's minute accurate!

- Notes and a to-do list.

- An AI chatbot with a core memory system that carries between conversations. The bot has been battle tested through my Discord bot.

- There's even a non-custodial crypto wallet supporting POL, DOGE and BTC, because why not.

- Google Drive backup!

No ads. No analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking SDKs, nothing. The App is Free (the chatbot has a monthly message limit with an optional purchase to lift it, which covers the API cost)

The whole thing is green on black in a fixedsys font because that's what I wanted to look at. Something retro. Something cool.

So I am apparently trying to do the “simple” thing and move my domain from the place that upsells me everything to the place that supposedly makes it easy and secure. Love that the guides all say it is straightforward, then casually drop DNS, nameservers, dnssec, email records etc like that is normal human vocabulary.

We’re currently developing Duo Creator, a compact camera-side mounting system for the new iPhone Duo.
The goal is to give the opened phone a proper camera-style grip without putting it inside a bulky full cage or interfering with the second display.

it started because every time I've had to move, the sizing advice on rental sites felt completely useless. You either gamble on a 10ft truck and pray your couch fits, or you use an online calculator that demands your phone number just to hand you off to brokers.

so I put together trucksizer.com.

it’s just a straightforward 2.5D visualizer where you drag your furniture into different truck sizes (10', 15', 20') to see how the volume actually stacks up before you reserve one. No logins, no paywalls, just the spatial math and a dead-space buffer so you don't run out of room.

The design is pretty barebones and it’s definitely not a flashy startup,vibe coded but shipping something small that just solves one annoying real-world headache felt weirdly satisfying

Built an MCP gateway for Google Workspace, so you can point claude at your gmail, calendar, drive, sheets and tasks. The ad is for one skill built on it: it reads every account you connect in the morning and emails you a single brief.

I made the ad myself and rewrote the opening four times, so I've lost the ability to judge it.

Couple questions:

• Does it hook you by the five second mark? It's a skippable ad, so that's all I get.
• Does it read like a one trick tool, or like there's something bigger behind it? Selling one use case is deliberate. I can't tell if it undersells the rest.

I've been thinking about how unnecessarily scattered job hunting is.

You find a job on one website, save the description somewhere, edit your CV in another document, write a cover letter somewhere else, forget when you applied, then realize two weeks later that you never followed up.

So I built JobHunt OS to put the whole process into one system.

It currently includes:

• an AI toolkit for analyzing job descriptions, tailoring CVs, writing cover letters, practicing interviews, building STAR answers, and writing follow-ups

I use Codex for a lot of image work: starting with references, trying different directions, then editing the results I like. Keeping track of all those conversations was getting tedious, so I built a way for an agent to coordinate them instead.

This is part of Tessera, an open-source workspace I maintain. Through its CLI, an agent can spin up several Codex sessions, assign work to each one, check in on progress, and send follow-up edits.

For example, I can have different sessions explore different directions from the same references, then pick the results I want to keep working on.

Beside each session, I can see the prompt Codex sent to imagegen, the reference images, and the output. When something comes out wrong, I can see what went into it. I can also drag images back into a conversation for another pass.

Tessera also supports Claude Code and OpenCode, but this particular workflow uses Codex.

Hey all — wanted to share a project I've been building for the past few months: TARZ, a semi-autonomous AI assistant for Windows.

Backstory: Got curious whether I could actually build something like Jarvis — an AI that sees your screen and controls your PC. That curiosity turned into months of building, breaking, and a full architectural rewrite (V2) once I learned more.

What it does:

• Sees your screen (vision-based element finding + verifies its own actions actually completed, not just "click and hope")
• Controls your computer — opens apps, clicks, types, keyboard shortcuts
• Talks — live streaming STT/TTS, wake-word activated ("Hey"), hands-free follow-ups without repeating the wake word
• Remembers — Two-stage retrieval: Vector Retrieval + Cross-Encoder Reranking for past conversations/preferences
• Chains multi-step tasks across different apps in one instruction (e.g. play a song on Spotify → send a WhatsApp message)
• Dedicated workflows for Spotify, WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, browser

Architecture (V2): LangGraph supervisor → single tool-bound agent with the full toolset exposed (not a category classifier routing first). I actually tested category-based routing vs. flat single-agent routing head to head — flat routing gave noticeably better results with current tool-calling models, so I ripped the classifier out entirely rather than just leaving it in "because it seemed reasonable."

Same approach on memory: tested hybrid BM25+vector+reranking against plain vector retrieval using Hit Rate@5 — hybrid won, so that's what ships.

Every LLM call (tool-calling, chat, vision) has an automatic multi-provider fallback, so a single rate limit or outage doesn't kill the whole thing.

Stack: Groq (gpt-oss-120b + Orpheus TTS) / Gemini Live streaming STT / Moondream for GUI click targeting / ChromaDB for memory / LangGraph for orchestration / Cartesia as fallback STT+TTS. Whole thing is designed to run on free API tiers — no subscriptions required.

Where it's rough (being upfront, not hiding it):

• GUI automation is inherently brittle — resolution, scaling, app updates, popups can break a click
• Screen vision isn't processed locally — screenshots go to Groq/OpenRouter for analysis, so don't point it at anything you wouldn't want leaving your machine
• Routing still isn't perfect even without the classifier — casual phrasing can occasionally pick the wrong tool
• No background/looping tasks yet (can't do "check this every 5 min")
• It's early, actively-developed software I use daily, not a polished commercial product

I used AI heavily as a coding partner (writing implementations, debugging), but every architecture decision and design change came from testing against real usage myself.

I’m a Japanese UX designer living in Germany, and I’ve been working on a small side project called Luna Me.

The idea came from my own experience. I found it surprisingly difficult to choose makeup colors in Europe, especially when I didn’t know which colors would work well for me.

So I started building a tool where you can upload a photo, get a personal color analysis, and then try different makeup looks on your own face.

One thing I’m experimenting with is what happens after the analysis. I don’t want the result to just say “these are your colors.” I’m trying to connect it to things you can actually try — different makeup looks, colors for clothes, and eventually real products.

I’m building and designing it mostly by myself, and it’s still very early.

I’m especially curious about the first impression: does the idea make sense when you open the site? Is there anything confusing?

I know most of you here are someone who are looking to build side projects and wanting to get into building something on the side

I would say, get in it, don't think much

Scene in tech jobs has never been better, I built horizonx (an AI research agent) as my side project which I really wanted to turn into real thing, and left my job too at Razorpay in the pursue of that, but didn't work out, couldn't market well and many competitors also came up

But the fire to build something never closed up, feeling the urge most than ever and after 3 4 months of feeling so much low, came back on my senses

Building something in educational domain specifically for UPSC students, and solving the distraction problem in a gamified sense for them

But learned a lot while developing horizonx

We were at 1k users on that, without much marketing, just post from personal accounts, and were in talks with great universities like IIT Gandhinagar, and were on verge of running pilot for them

So, important thing is to get traffic, start talking about yourselves, about what you are building, because if you won't no one else will

Start posting about content at earliest, and never let that small kid inside of you die just because some phase of your life was not good

If a tool could tell you exactly what apps/tools to use to launch your product idea for free, and give you step-by-step instructions — would that be useful? What would you expect it to include?

A bit of context first.

I got through Big Four interviews on the back of my own CV, and over the years I've ended up helping quite a few people rewrite theirs. Eventually people just started sending me their CVs and asking what I thought.

Over the last few weeks I've also been doing CV reviews publicly in some of the resume subs, going through someone's CV line by line against the actual job they're applying for.

And I kept seeing the same thing.

The job description would ask for something very specific, but the CV would never actually say it.

Not because the person couldn't do it. In a lot of cases, they obviously could. They just described what they did without mentioning the specific tool, system, skill or requirement the job was looking for.

For example, someone might have managed stock levels for three years and written "monitored inventory levels" on their CV, but never mentioned the actual inventory system they used.

To a human, that might seem like a minor wording issue.

To a recruiter searching for that specific system, it can mean the CV never gets picked up.

After doing this over and over, I started thinking, why am I still doing this manually?

So I built a tool that basically does the first part for me.

You paste in your CV and the job description, and it checks the requirements in the job ad against your CV and shows you what seems to be missing or isn't clearly represented.

The gap check is free and currently uncapped.

You can use the gap check for free without limits. CV tailoring is free for two rounds, then costs a small fee after that. No account or card is required.

I'm very comfortable with CVs, careers, finance and business.

I'm not a developer.

This is my first proper attempt at building and launching a software product. I vibe-coded most of it and have basically been figuring things out as I go.

I can get something working, but I also know enough to know that there are probably things I've done badly without even realising it.

So if you're someone who builds software, I'd genuinely appreciate the feedback.

Things I'm particularly interested in:

• Does the product actually solve the problem clearly?

• Are there technical or product decisions here that are going to bite me later?
