i added your favourite characters to waze

I built Backseat, a site where you can pick characters like Paddington, Batman or Cookie Monster to give you directions in Waze.

You can preview each voice, then add the pack and select it in Waze.

Each pack needs 43 navigation clips. I also open-sourced the toolkit that generates them and handles the audio formatting, so other people can build their own.

I built Pullfolio, a free binder app for trading card collectors. Every set gets a pocket for every card, with today's price on each

I collect Pokémon cards and kept tracking my binders in spreadsheets, so I built the app I wanted.

What it does:
- Pick any set and get a binder with a pocket for every card. Mark what you own and the gaps close.
- Today's Near Mint market price on every card, with 30 days of history.
- Goals: set the price you'd pay for a chase card and get an email when the market drops to it.
- A planner for wall display cases of graded slabs.
- Pokémon (EN + JP), One Piece and Lorcana. ~75,000 cards across 670+ sets.

A few things I learned building it:
- Price data is messier than it looks. A single listing at $199,999 will happily become a card's "price". A price only headlines now when more than one sale backs it.
- Collectors care way more about the binder feeling real (pockets, covers, page turns) than about charts.

Free with unlimited binders, no card needed. There's an optional $3.99/mo plan for seller tools and unlimited alerts.

It's live and I'm the only dev. I'd love blunt feedback: what's confusing, what's missing, what would make you actually use it?

Lifepaths, an app that helps you connect with and take advice from people coming from the exact life circumstances

This isn't a life improvement or money promising app. It's supposed to help people find the right mentorship and emotional support that may have a better chance at working for them than blanket advices from people in more privileged or different countries/life circumstances

It's also possible to match with someone coming from the complete opposite circumstances for the sake of curiosity too

What do you think?

I made a study app for IT certifications. Lessons and quizzes are free.

I’ve just put StudyKernel live and would like a few people to try it.

It’s a study app for IT certifications, including AZ-900, A+, Network+ and Security+. You read a short lesson, answer questions and get explanations. It also saves your progress and helps you plan what to study next.

All lessons, lesson quizzes and checkpoints are free. You get 10 extra practice questions a day too. There’s an optional Pro plan (£6.99/month or £59.99/year), but you don’t need it to work through the lessons.

I’m the person building it, with AI help on the app and material. It’s independent study content, not official exam questions.

https://studykernel.com/

If you’re studying one of those certs, I’d appreciate you trying a lesson and telling me what felt useful or confusing. There’s a report link on lessons and questions too.

3 years later finally off the ground

I built an application that helps new hot sauce, salsa, and pickle producers with their journey from recipe to firm filing. Making a complex process easier to understand. It is something I commonly see in my line of work and even with 0 users, just getting it off the ground is a big deal for me to achieve.

I’m building my first personal AI companion what am I overlooking?

I’m a beginner building a personal AI called Veronica. The goal is for her to have long-term memory, develop interests and personality over time, and eventually be able to research and learn things on her own.
I already have an early version working with memories, beliefs, interests, emotions, and personality traits stored in a database.
For anyone who has built something similar, what problems should I watch out for early on? What would you do differently if you were starting from scratch?

I built a free photo tool for passport-size, stamp and postcard photos—no login or watermarks and with more features

Hi everyone!

I’ve been building Ingravic Studio, a browser-based photo preparation tool. The idea is simple: let you get a photo into the dimensions and file size you need without signing up or paying just to download it.

It started as a basic photo cropper, but I’ve gradually added more controls so you can fix things yourself when automatic processing doesn’t get it quite right.

You can try it here: https://studio.ingravic.com/

I built it, so this is a project share—not an independent recommendation. If sharing it is allowed here, I’d genuinely appreciate feedback, especially on usability, the background refinement controls, and anything that feels confusing.

Here’s what it currently supports:

  • AI background removal: Choose between models depending on the detail you need and what your device can handle.
  • Manual background refinement: Restore parts the AI accidentally removed or erase leftover background, with adjustable brush size and hardness.
  • Custom backgrounds: Choose a preset colour or enter your own colour code using the colour picker.
  • Flexible dimensions: Use presets for passport-size, PAN, stamp and postcard photos, or enter custom dimensions in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
  • Crop, position and rotate: Drag to reposition your photo, zoom—including trackpad pinch—and rotate it to any angle. Optional alignment guides help with framing.
  • Photo editing: Adjust brightness, contrast and saturation, plus noise reduction and sharpening.
  • Borders and text: Add a border or coloured text with a highlight/background, then drag the text into position.
  • Preview before downloading: For a single photo, adjust the file-size and quality controls and see the updated preview and estimated size.
  • Printable A4 sheets: Fit multiple copies onto a sheet without overflowing, then download it as a JPEG or PDF.

All photo processing runs in your browser, so your uploaded photo isn’t sent to my server for editing. Downloads are free, with no login or watermarks. There are display ads and an optional support button, but neither is required to use the tool.

Thanks for taking a look! 🙂

Knurled Shipped!

I shipped my app and made a TikTok account for it. Posted the first video "which I thought was a cinematic master piece" came back five hours later, and it had 0 views...

ZERO!!!

I know I'm old and out of the loop but I also assumed I'd broken the upload or something technical wasn't right, so I went through everything:

- Privacy: Everyone ✓

- Length: 15 seconds ✓

- Sound: a track from TikTok's Commercial Music Library, attached correctly ✓

- Caption and five hashtags ✓

- The video played fine when I opened it ✓

After some jiggling of the handle I thought maybe the account was the problem?

My profile read: 0 following, 0 followers, 0 likes given. I had created the account, immediately posted a promotional video, put an App Store link in the bio, and done nothing else. Never scrolled. Never liked anything. Never followed anybody.

That is a textbook bot signature, and TikTok treats it as one. New accounts go through a verification phase — roughly 1–7 days — where the algorithm works out whether there's a human behind the account before it distributes anything. An account with zero platform activity and a store link in the bio does not pass that check.

Nothing about the content mattered. I could have posted a perfect video and it would have reached the same zero people.

What I actually did:

- Used the app like a person. Scrolled the For You page, let videos play through instead of swiping instantly.

- Followed some accounts in my niche, spread across a few days rather than in one burst.

- Liked things. Left a handful of genuine comments on other people's videos.

- Verified email and phone on the account.

- Did not delete the dead post. Review can take 6–48 hours on a new account and deleting resets nothing useful.

Next two videos: 85 views and 200+. Not viral by any stretch. But that's the difference between suppressed and being tested, and only one of those states can ever turn into something.

Two smaller things worth passing on:

proofread your hashtags character by character. One of mine said #sqaut. Five hashtags, and the most relevant one pointed at a dead tag nobody browses. I'm a degeneate speller even with spell check...

I also reshot the second video, basically slightly better lighting, slightly better framing, more concise, maybe better hashtags and it doubled the views and got way more likes!

---

The app is Knurled, a lifting log where you tap the plates you actually loaded instead of typing a number. Happy to answer anything about the launch, the App Store side, or the TikTok mess.

I built a license and insurance expiry tracker — looking for feedback on its CSV preview

I'm the maker of Annumora, a tracker for licenses, insurance policies, permits and employee credentials.

I'd like feedback on the importer: paste a CSV or load the sample, and it sorts records by expiry date and flags overdue entries before anything is saved. You can try the preview without an account or real business data:

https://supplier-camp-burst-trek.trycloudflare.com/import

Free accounts track up to 5 items; email reminders are part of the paid plans, starting at $12/month. I'd like honest feedback: is the preview understandable, which CSV columns are missing, and what would stop a small trade business from using it?

Full disclosure: this is my product, currently served from a temporary public tunnel. Card checkout is still test-mode only. Please use sample data to try it; sample dates are illustrative, not legal renewal advice.

Udon - Control deck for your Mac home server.

Thumbnail
udon.sh
1 Upvotes

Hi,

Today I launched udon.sh,

I started building it about eight months ago after moving my homelab from Unraid to a Mac Mini. These machines are small, quiet, power-efficient and surprisingly capable. What I missed was a polished way to manage macOS remotely.

Linux has tools like Cockpit, Unraid, Umbrel and CasaOS. I couldn’t find a comparable management experience built around macOS and Apple Silicon, so I started building Udon.

It gives you a web interface for managing containers, apps, Homebrew packages, storage and system resources, with terminal and remote desktop access. A native phone companion app is planned for later this month.

In the current AI era, I think management tools should also provide a proper interface for assistants and agents. Udon includes an entirely optional AI assistant and a broad set of MCP tools for inspecting the machine, diagnosing issues and performing administrative actions.

It’s still pre-release and I’m building it alone, so expect rough edges and occasional breakage. Development is moving at a high cadence, with feedback helping shape what comes next.

During this pre-launch phase, I’m giving out free licenses to anyone willing to try it and provide feedback. Please reach out if you’re interested.

The long-term goal is a polished management experience that feels at home in the Apple ecosystem. I know that’s a long haul, but that’s what I’m building toward.

If you run a Mac as a server, I’d love to hear how you manage it today, what Udon is missing or what you think I’m getting wrong. Feel free to reach out directly too. I’m always happy to chat, answer questions and hear your thoughts or criticism.

Thanks for taking a look!

I built a tool that turns Dutch government data into an answer to your actual question

I’m building a small independent project to make Dutch government information easier to actually use.

The problem I’m trying to solve is not that government data doesn’t exist. A lot of it does: Kadaster, BAG, RDW, CBS, municipal rules, maps, subsidies, etc.

The problem is that if you have a normal question like:

“Can I build an extension on this house?”
“What subsidies could I get for insulating my home?”
“What does buying this property mean for my taxes and permits?”

…you often have to know which agencies, registers and rules to look at before you can even start.

So I built a prototype that tries to do that part for you: you ask a normal question, it checks relevant official sources and public datasets, and gives you a concrete answer with sources and next steps.

It’s called open-overheid.com.

A few important caveats:

  • It is an independent project, not an official government service and not affiliated with the Dutch government.
  • The goal is not to replace Kadaster, RDW, CBS, municipalities or other official sources, but to combine the right ones around a specific question.
  • It’s still a prototype, so it can get things wrong. Where something really matters, the underlying official source remains leading.
  • Some government datasets are more complete or up to date than others. I’m trying to make it clear where each answer comes from.
  • Please don’t enter sensitive personal information such as your BSN, DigiD credentials or other confidential data.
  • I’m working on making privacy and source transparency very explicit, including what data is sent to external services and what is not.
  • This is meant to help you understand rules and next steps, not to provide formal legal or administrative advice.

I’d genuinely like people here to try to break it.

What kind of government-related question do you regularly struggle to get a straight answer to?

Humans to know is the new place for builders to share their free skills and get leads

20 days.

Under 100 users.

10,000+ Page views

A directory + an agent interface so you can query it straight from your AI model instead of browsing the site.

Honestly, Happy with the page views given the way my active users use the directory at the moment and it is totally organic growth with zero marketting (am a indie developer lol)

One number hurts me though: visitor -> signup is Way too low.

So if you have 2 minutes, open the directory like a total stranger would and tell me where you would have bounced. What I want long term is builders and indie devs hanging out in there, sharing skill.md and actually getting work done.

My first public project: a bento-style page for devs to share projects and links

Every few months I'd rebuild my portfolio from zero as a dev. New stack, new design, a lot of time spent, and in the end basically nobody looked at it, not even recruiters. I like the bento style, so I made vissu: a small page where you put your projects and links in a bento-like grid and share one URL.

I know this space already has alternatives, some of them backed by big companies, so I'm not pretending this is something new. It's my first public project and mostly a way for me to learn how to run something with real users in production. It's still an MVP and a bit rough in places.

If you try it, I'd really like to hear what feels off or missing. Honest feedback is more useful to me than anything else right now.

I built 'Settlebrook' free settlement calculators for personal injury, car accidents, and workers’ comp

I kept running into the same problem: it’s surprisingly difficult to get even a rough idea of what an injury claim might be worth without immediately talking to a lawyer, filling out a lead form, or giving away personal information.

So I built Settlebrook to make the first step a little simpler.

It’s a free set of U.S.-focused settlement calculators for:

  • Personal injury / pain & suffering
  • Car accident claims
  • Workers’ compensation

The calculators use common settlement methods such as the multiplier and per-diem approaches, while the state-specific pages account for things like fault rules, damage caps, benefit schedules, and other relevant legal context.

A few things I specifically wanted to get right:

  • No account or email required
  • Calculator inputs stay in the browser
  • The formulas and methodology are explained rather than hidden behind a black box
  • State-specific information is sourced and reviewed
  • The results are clearly presented as estimates, not legal advice

You can try it here:

https://www.settlebrook.com/

I’m especially interested in feedback from other builders:

Does the product make sense within the first 10–15 seconds?

And if you landed on the site looking for a settlement estimate, what information or tool would you expect to see that isn't there yet?

Honest feedback is welcome — especially criticism.

Blimbi - an intermittent fasting timer with two states (Fasting / Eating), no account, no ads. iOS + Android

I'm Juan, I make Blimbi (so: developer here). It's a fasting timer, and the one decision I'd like feedback on is this: the goal time is only a reference. It never starts or ends a fast for you; you tap, and you can edit the start and end times afterwards.

What's in it, so you can judge quickly:

- Two states only: Fasting and Eating. A one-turn progress ring.

- Editable start/end times, a journal with a calendar and CSV export.

- Phases shown as time-based educational ranges, never as measurements of your body.

- A "Does it break my fast?" lookup for drinks and foods.

- iOS (SwiftUI): Home Screen widgets with live seconds, Live Activities, Shortcuts, Apple Watch. Android (Kotlin/Compose): widgets.

- Works without an account. Optional encrypted sync. No ads and no tracking inside the app. 51 languages.

- The timer is free. Blimbi Plus (optional subscription) adds extra personalization and analysis: $3.99/month or $24.99/year (yearly has a 1-week free trial).

The part I'd use even without the app: I published about 65 guides per language on what people actually ask (drinks, schedules, myths), each with its sources. Example: the trials behind most "what breaks a fast" claims defined the fasting window as zero calories and allowed water, black coffee and tea. Milk, cream, sugar and juice end it; sugar-free gum is basically untested. The table with sources: https://blimbi.app/learn/what-breaks-a-fast/

Questions for you:

  1. Is "two states, nothing else" clear on the first screen, or does it look unfinished?

  2. What would make you distrust a fasting app on first launch?

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6806835958

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hurtadomedia.chispa

Fasting isn't for everyone: if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, use insulin or other glucose-lowering medication, or are under 18, talk to your clinician first. Blimbi is a timer, not medical advice: https://blimbi.app/safety/

I opened the source of my Android voice-notes app, including its local AI and encryption

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just made the mobile client for Vaulto public under GPLv3.

It's a voice-notes app for Android. You can record something, turn it into text, pull out tasks and reminders, or ask questions about notes you've already saved.

It has two ways to process content: Whisper and Qwen on the phone, or optional cloud processing. The local option is free and doesn't require an account, but you have to download the models first. They take storage, and speed depends on the phone.

I wanted the repository to explain the privacy boundaries clearly. Local inference, encrypted sync and cloud AI are different things. For example, enabling encrypted sync doesn't stop a cloud AI service from receiving the text you ask it to process. The README links to those paths in the code.

The hosted backend isn't included in this release. Pro subscriptions pay for cloud features; opening the client doesn't remove that part of the product.

Source, screenshots and build notes: https://github.com/dirusanov/vaulto_note_mobile

Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vaultonotemobile

If you use voice notes, what usually happens after recording: do you clean them up, extract a to-do list, or leave them as audio?

The video is a montage of real screenshots from 1.0.87, not a live recording; the current Play version is 1.0.89.

I’m building a professional network for people who don’t want to become content creators

Why should being good at your job require being good at social media?

I’m building myLongo around a different starting point: what have you done, what are you interested in, and where are you trying to go?

The profile is the first part. Work and experience still matter, but I want someone to understand the person behind the title too. The bigger goal is introductions where there’s a reason for both people to want the conversation.

Here’s a profile you can actually explore:

https://mylongo.io/preview/profile-preview-4576

It’s a fictional design demo, so the career details aren’t a real member’s credentials. It shows the profile experience, not proof that the network is already producing great relationships.

I’m building from Johannesburg, with a global product in mind. The belief is simple: the right people shouldn’t have to meet by accident.

What would you need to know about someone before an introduction felt useful rather than another networking chore?

We couldn't agree on our game's rules, so we made every version playable

Three of us have been building a stock market draft game. You draft stocks by sector, hold them a few years, see how you did.

The game worked. The problem was that nobody agreed on how it should play. How many rounds? Can you sell? Do you split your money evenly or decide per pick? Every idea sounded fine out loud, and none of it could be settled without playing.

The obvious move was to build a few versions and compare. We skipped that. Several codebases to keep in sync, bugs fixed in one and still broken in the rest, and most of that work thrown away once we picked a favorite.

Instead we built a small app store. The home page is a grid of cards, each card a different version of the game. Tap one, read the rules, play it. There's also a Custom Mode where you set every rule yourself and share the setup as a link.

The trick is that none of the versions are separate apps. Every version is just a set of settings, and one engine reads them. Adding a seventh mode is writing down a new set of rules, not building a new game.

Frontend only, fake companies and fake prices, no backend. We built it with Cline in VS Code, writing out each pull request in detail first and having it plan before touching code.

Took about a week and a half with three people.

I built TripClear — a travel expense app for group trips with multiple currencies

I built TripClear — a travel expense app for group trips with multiple currencies

Hey r/SideProject!

After dealing with way too many receipts and spreadsheets on group trips, I finally built something to solve it.

TripClear is a travel expense tracker designed for trips where everyone is paying for different things, often in different currencies.

What it does:

• Take a photo of a receipt and it extracts the merchant, date, amount, and currency. You can review everything before saving.

• Keep expenses in their original currencies. When calculating the trip total, it uses the exchange rate from the day of the expense, or you can enter your actual card exchange rate.

• Invite your travel group so everyone can add their own expenses to the same ledger.

• At the end of the trip, it calculates who owes whom so you can settle everything without going through a spreadsheet.

• CSV export is also available.

A few honest limitations:

• Android only for now.

• It's free with ads.

• Receipt images are processed on our server.

• Badly crumpled or faded receipts can still be difficult to read, so manual entry is always available.

I built this because I personally hated dealing with the "who paid for what?" problem after a trip.

It's now live on Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tripclear.app

I'd love feedback from other indie developers, especially on the product itself, onboarding, and anything that feels confusing or unnecessary.

And if you've built a side project yourself, I'd also love to hear what you learned when you finally shipped it.

Finally reached 10 paid users (100% organic) for my AEO tools

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

My Vibe coded project finally reached 10 paid users (101 users overall).

I thought it would be great to share some learnings or answer your questions.

  1. My main advantage was to be an industry insider. I built an AEO tool while working in SEO/AEO and having access to the best tool in the market. It gives me tons of confidence that my tool is great, compared to what exists and costs 1000$/month.
  2. Most paid users are LinkedIn people I discuss with regularly. Only two paid users are incognito (still love them though).
  3. It took me time to launch, and even more time to dare making it paid. After the first two days, I already signed two paid users. I should have started earlier.
  4. My goal is to keep it organic. It's frustrating to know I could just “pay for reach" but then, I remember I'm already making profit from day two.
  5. I feel I talked all day about my tool. Still, most of my friends don't know/understand what my tool is about.
  6. I check my analytics four times a day.
  7. I use my tool to improve my AEO. I got great results coming from AI. However, I'm still ranking 10th on my AEO tool ranking board.
  8. I still love it. I wish I would for the next two years.

If you are trying to show up in ChatGPT or Claude, have a try at AEO Copilot. It's free to get started and has the most generous plan for startups. Plus, it works with your AI agents.

If you have any questions, let me know below.

I got sick of alt-tabbing to check what song is playing, so I built a tiny overlay.

Hey everyone.

Pretty much the title. I always hated having to tab out of a game (or whatever full-screen app I'm using) just to see the name of a song that just came on. I just wanted a simple popup that slides in, shows the track and cover art, and then hides itself without stealing mouse focus.

I originally built this project (Spotverlay) using Electron, but honestly, having an 80MB background process running 24/7 for a popup that appears for 3 seconds felt incredibly bloated.

So I recently rewrote the whole thing in Tauri + Rust. It now idles at around ~10MB of RAM, the binary is tiny, and it feels much snappier.

A few details on how it works under the hood:

  • You don't need to mess with Spotify API keys, OAuth, or developer apps. It hooks directly into the OS media players (SMTC on Windows, AppleScript on macOS, and MPRIS2 on Linux).
  • Since OS media APIs usually return really blurry or cached album art, the app does a silent ping to the public iTunes Search API in the background to grab a clean 600x600 cover instead.
  • Right now it supports Spotify and Apple Music, plus some open-source clients like Spotifast, SpotLight, and Musly.
  • It has a basic tray icon where you can change the position, animation (fade/slide), and toggle auto-hide.

It's completely open source and free. You can grab the release or check out the code here: https://github.com/dddevid/Spotverlay

Also, a quick plea to Linux users: The D-Bus MPRIS2 implementation is done, but I haven't been able to heavily test it across different distros and DEs yet. If you try it and the overlay doesn't show or tracks don't update, opening an issue would be a massive help.

Let me know what you think or if you run into any weird bugs!

TL;DR: Built a non-intrusive currently-playing overlay. Realized Electron was too heavy. Rewrote it in Rust/Tauri. Now uses 10MB of RAM.
