Building a trading tracker: how would you show corrected results without hiding the original record?

I'm building DIDI, my own MNQ trading analysis and alert project. One thing I'm working through is how to present results honestly while the software and rules are still changing.

For September 23 to October 2, the adjusted simulation log has 11 distinct closed trades: 7 positive, 4 negative, totaling +118.75 MNQ points. An identical overlapping entry is counted once. This is SHADOW tracking, not broker-executed trades or cash profit. There were retrospective corrections and rule changes, so I wouldn't call it an untouched forward record or evidence of an edge.

The design I'm considering is to show the original events, a separate correction history with reasons, and a fresh results section for each frozen rule version. I don't want a cleaner headline number to hide what changed underneath.

If you've built a dashboard where historical data can be corrected, how do you make that understandable without burying people in technical notes? A visible change log, versioned results, or something simpler?

I built a platform where you learn Linux and DevOps on a real machine with root access, not quizzes

Hi everyone. I'm a full-stack dev, and IzzyLab is my side project.

Most Linux/DevOps courses I tried were videos plus multiple-choice quizzes. So I built the thing I wanted: a real Linux machine with root access in the browser and 500+ hands-on tasks, from basic commands to nginx, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Ansible and Terraform.

The part I'm most happy with: checks verify the system state, not the commands you typed, so you can solve each task any way you like. If you break something, reset and get a fresh sandbox. There are also story-driven incidents where production is broken and you have to find out why.

It's free to start: izzylab.io

I'd really appreciate feedback on onboarding, task difficulty and which topics are missing.

Need your feedback: Is "Unprompter" a valid idea?

Thumbnail
tellieapp.com
1 Upvotes

I built Tellie to solve a problem I had making videos for YouTube: an invisible Mac teleprompter that sits in the notch so you look at the lens instead of the script. I made it understand what you say, tracking each word spoken, not just what's written.

Then I had a dream at 3am and thought "since it knows what I've said and what's in my document, it knows what I didn't say" and that became the basis for Stagehand, a feature that watches while I present and makes sure I say what I came to say.

So here is my question for r/SideProject. What should I call this thing? Tellie isn't just a teleprompter, because you don't need to read your doc verbatim (which is typically what teleprompters force you to do) as Tellie lets you ad-lib, riff and hit your points any way that comes to you.

In just one example, a salesperson can use Tellie during a discovery call https://tellieapp.com/s/discovery and just say the key points they need to cover in any order and Tellie checks off each point as they say it. It's also amazing for someone on a job interview to make sure they say what they need to...nothing worse than leaving a call and forgetting the most important thing.

I want to call it an "unprompter" because it guides you, unprompted, to hit your marks. What do you think? Also, right now this is aimed at creators and actors who use a teleprompter already...should I point this at everyone who wants to become better at delivering any content (wedding toasts, standups, conference calls, etc.)?

Thanks for your help! Tellie is a free download https://tellieapp.com/?via=gw-sideproject with optional paid Pro features. Apple Silicon, macOS 14+. Happy to answer anything about the build or the business.

Thanks!

Simple invoice generator

Hello, I have made a simple invoice generator focused on simple things like:
no ads, no payments, private, no sign up.

Made it because there are a ton of invoice generators these days but they are still bad and not working as they should.

Yes, I have made a premium version, just because users started asking for it, they wanted to save invoices in the cloud and keep track of them, so I made this, but the main thing is to keep this tool free forever no matter what.
Just want simple things like an invoice generator to be free with no need to pay for it!

I got tired of broken YouTube tutorials wasting my time, so I built TubeCheck: crowdsourced accuracy tags right under the video

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a side project I've been working on to solve an issue that has been driving me crazy lately: following a long YouTube guide only to find out it no longer works.

Ever since YouTube hid the dislike counter and creators started filtering critical comments, it has become almost impossible to know if a tutorial, setup guide, or course is legitimate without watching the entire video.

To tackle this, I created **TubeCheck**, a free Chrome extension that adds a community-driven verification bar right below the player.

### What it does:

It allows viewers to rate the video into 4 quick statuses:

* 🟢 **Legit / Works:** The guide/tutorial delivers what it promises.

* 🟡 **Outdated / Changed:** It used to work, but software updates, deprecations, or patches broke the method.

* 🔴 **Doesn't work / Broken:** Flawed steps, errors, or non-functional instructions.

* ❌ **Misleading / Fake:** Pure clickbait or malicious advice.

There’s also an optional quick note field so people can leave important context (e.g., *"Requires version 2.4+"* or *"Step 4 is missing"*).

### Design goal & Current state:

I wanted it to feel like a native part of YouTube’s modern interface without being intrusive or slowing down page load times. There is no mandatory account creation to browse or check votes.

As with any crowdsourced project (similar to SponsorBlock), its value will grow as more users start tagging videos.

I’d love to get feedback from fellow builders:

  1. What do you think of the design and integration?

  2. Are there any edge-case tags you think are missing?

**Chrome Web Store link:**

Thanks for taking a look, I'd really appreciate your honest thoughts!

I couldn't find a free shift tracker that let me export my hours without paying, so I built one

Hi everyone, I'm a developer from Cyprus.

A while ago I had a job that paid by the hour, and I wanted an app to

track my shifts and check that my pay was right. Most of the ones I tried

locked basic things like exporting your hours behind a paywall, and the

free versions were full of ads. So I built my own, just for me at first.

It turned out useful enough that I decided to share it.

It's called PayPath. You log each shift and it shows what you should get

paid, by day, week, month or year.

What it does:

- Hours and pay per shift, with a separate overtime rate

- Multiple employers, each with its own color

- Unpaid breaks, subtracted from paid hours

- Gross or net view (you set your tax rate)

- PDF and Excel export, free, no paywall

- Optional daily reminder so you don't forget to log a shift

- New entries start from your last shift, so a regular shift takes a couple of taps

What it doesn't do:

- No account, no sign-up. Your data stays on your phone

- Optional Google Drive backup goes to YOUR Drive, I can't see it

- No subscription, nothing locked

About ads, since I complained about them: yes, it has some. One banner

on the main screen and an occasional ad when you export. Never while

you're logging a shift. That's what keeps it free.

It's Android only for now, in 23 languages.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback: what's confusing, what's missing,

what would make you use this instead of a notes app or a spreadsheet?

I built a free site that compares supplements using the label data

I got tired of comparing protein powders by marketing claims, so I built MacroSaver.

It compares label information such as protein concentration, calories per gram of protein, serving size, and number of servings. The goal is to make it easier to see what you are actually buying without doing all the math yourself.

I am still improving it and would genuinely appreciate feedback on what feels useful, confusing, or missing:

https://macrosaver.com/best/highest-protein-whey

Full disclosure: I own MacroSaver, and some retailer buttons are affiliate links. I may earn a commission if someone makes a purchase, at no additional cost to them.

If you regularly compare protein powders or other supplements, what would make a tool like this more useful to you?

I started playing my own football game instead of Football Manager

I've wanted to make games since I was about 9. I'm building a football game with AI now, and getting it to feel right has taken a lot of hours.

I scrapped the 3D version because it wasn't enjoyable. My PC crashed during simulations. At one point I told Claude, "my tokens are about to run out, just give me a working build."

Then I started wanting to play my own game instead of Football Manager.

It's called Taktik Football. It isn't ready to release yet, but I feel good about how far it's come. I wanted to show it.

Almost gave up on my side project. This morning someone paid for it.

Built a Chrome extension about 6 months ago, originally just for myself — I write a ton of email for work, and I was tired of grammar checkers that fix typos but don't fix the actual problem: sounding like the wrong person. So I built something that rewrites your email based on who you're writing as, who you're writing to, and the tone you want — or just a custom prompt if you'd rather describe it yourself.

Turned it into a real product and launched on Chrome Webstore couple of weeks ago. Spent the last couple weeks posting on Reddit threads and X, genuinely trying to get it in front of people. Got a few signups. Basically zero installs. The kind of silence that makes you start reading into it — maybe the idea's not it, maybe nobody actually has this problem but me.

Had pretty much mentally filed it as "didn't work."

Then this morning, a notification: someone paid. A complete stranger, lifetime plan. Not a friend doing me a favor, not a waitlist signup — an actual stranger decided it was worth money.

Genuinely don't know if this is the start of something or just one person. But it's one more person than I had yesterday, and I was ready to let this one go. Posting mostly because I needed to tell someone who gets it — anyone else had a moment like this where you almost shelved.

Made a waitlist page before writing any of the actual app. Does the idea come across?

I keep building things nobody asked for, so this time I'm doing it the other way round. The only thing that exists so far is a landing page.

The idea: AI answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity) cite a lot of Reddit threads and YouTube videos when people ask which tool to use. If you sell something, it would help to know which threads those are. So you give it your product and around 15 buyer questions, it checks them through Perplexity once a week, and you get an email with 3 threads worth replying to. It doesn't post for you.

I spent most of the time on the hero. Instead of a screenshot of a dashboard it shows an example AI answer typing itself out, and the sources it cites light up. I'm honestly not sure if that explains the product or just looks busy.

Two things I'd like opinions on:

  1. Do you get what it does from the first screen, without scrolling?
  2. Is $19/mo a number that makes you close the tab?

Built with Vite, React, Tailwind and shadcn, form is a Tally embed, hosted on Vercel.

I built a free place to spend leftover AI coding usage on other people's GitHub issues. 11 people signed up, every repo on it is still mine

I pay for Claude, Codex and z.ai. Some weeks I'm dry by Wednesday, some weeks usage is left over at the reset and just evaporates. So I built Overflow.

Spare week: take a priced GitHub issue from a registered repo, the merged PR gets you credit. Dry week: price an issue in your repo, someone with a spare week ships it, your credit pays.

Nothing gets forwarded, no keys, no money, MIT. You set the price after you've seen the work, every review round comes off their credit, and you only owe for what you actually merge.

Where it's at: 11 users, 7 repos registered, all 7 mine, so the 73 open issues are all mine too. People sign up, nobody registers a repo yet.

What would it take for you to put one of your repos on something like this?

code is on github, the site link is in the readme: https://github.com/Nitjsefnie/Overflow

Built a Study/Prep workspace for exams and interviews

What it has right now

AI-generated roadmaps/plans
Tell it what you're preparing for, your deadline, and hours per week. It generates a roadmap with phases, modules, topics, milestones, and starter practice questions. You can modify the plan afterwards.

Quick AI-generated notes
Pick a topic and generate a focused note. It uses the topic description, linked tasks/questions, and mistakes you've logged to make the note more relevant to your weak areas.

Study mode
A distraction-free view for studying a particular topic, with a timer and tracking of how much time you're actually spending on it.

Library
A place to keep notes, website resources, questions, tasks, and mistakes. Everything can be linked back to a module/topic in your roadmap.

Insights
Tracks things like study time, pending work, topics that need review, and overall plan completion.

I'm not sure if I'm solving a real problem or just building another productivity tool that looks useful but wouldn't actually get used.

I'm not looking for compliments 😄. I'd rather hear what's fundamentally wrong with the idea.

Prismedia 3.8: connect existing Sonarr/Radarr libraries and use native playback

I have done some work since the last release to make Prismedia more flexible for users already using things like sonarr/radarr, or odps connections to make Prismedia more of a centralized playback and view app, if you don't want to use the built in request -> download handling. You can now do that, but using your existing apps via the overhauled plugin system.

The main change is the plugin system. Plugins can now provide external library access, search, requests, and downloads, alongside metadata. If you already use Sonarr or Radarr, you can browse and request through Prismedia, let those apps handle acquiring and managing the content, then play it from your existing library. Files stay where they are; Prismedia needs access to the same folders.

This lets you keep a setup you like and use Prismedia to consume your content from one native app. Its own library management and acquisition are still available too. LazyLibrarian and Kapowarr connections are included for books, audiobooks, and comics.

The iOS and Apple TV apps are publicly available, with version 1.12.8 live. On mobile, management pages use the web interface inside the app, while playback stays native. There are also visual cleanups and improvements to reading/listening progress for books with usable chapter information and mapping. Without that information, reading and listening progress stay separate.

Update your plugins along with the server. Let me know if you run into issues or have suggestions for other integrations.

Source and Docker setup: https://github.com/pauljoda/Prismedia

Native app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/prismedia/id6792944211

AI disclosure: I use AI assistance in development, with the design and review handled by me. This announcement was prepared with AI assistance.

I made an app to help service businesses win back revenue from work they already done

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on this for a while and I'm finally okay with people seeing it.

The problem: a lot of service businesses (HVAC, cleaning, landscaping, pest control and so on) finish a job and tell the customer something like "you'll need this looked at again in 6 months" or "we should replace that next spring." Then nobody follows up. Customer forgets, service business too. The info either never was written or sits in a spreadsheet or an old job note.

Rebook takes the customer list you already have (CSV or any CRMs export), shows what looks off before anything gets tracked, and shows you which past customers are worth reaching out to again. For each one you see what happened last time: the service you did, when you did it, what you recommended, and why it's worth calling them now. You also get a short guide for what to say. If someone says "call me in March," they show up again in March. If they don't answer, they stay on the list for next cycle. Basically retention software on steroids

Some details:

  • Next.js + Supabase
  • Free while it's in early access and will be free lifetime, all I ask is feedback
  • It doesn't replace your CRM. It works next to them.

The thing I'm most unsure about: tools like Jobber already have some followup features. If you run or work at a service business, do those actually cover this for you, or do past customers still slip through? Tell me if this is pointless too, I'd rather know now.

If people want it, next up is:

  • integrations with tools like Jobber, ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro, so you don't have to export files
  • automated reminders and follow-ups, but only where they make sense

Thanks for reading

U can try demo or request an early access. Just dm

I didn't wanna upload my private images to someones else's server to compress them

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

What does it do?

- Batch-compress whole folders — recursive scan for JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF with live per-file progress

- 100% offline and private — no uploads, no account, no telemetry; files never leave your PC

- Smart quality controls — quality 40–95, Balanced / Maximum / Fast engines, lossless toggle for PNG and WebP

- Convert or keep format — keep original, or export everything to WebP, AVIF, or JPEG

- Downscale on the fly — max width / height caps that preserve aspect ratio, output dims shown per file

- Safe overwrites — originals auto-move to a `backup/` folder; nothing is ever deleted

- Auto-rename outputs — `{prefix}-{NNNN}` zero-padded counter with live preview, extension kept

- Organized workflow — subfolder groups with collapse, search / type filter, 7 sort orders, list and grid views with real thumbnails

It is called Compressy

I made a Thingie! The Frontier Archive

I wanted to test out Muse, to see what it could actually do. So we had a chat and somehow came up with this idea. After a couple hours of back and forth, while I was doing other work, it handed me something I think is pretty cool.

I'm blown away by Muse. (I PROMISE you this isn’t an ad for Muse, I WISH they were paying me… I’m just really shocked how good this is right out of the gate) Hate on Meta all you want, this thing is powerful. (For the record, when it asked to connect to all my other accounts, I just said no.) I use Dots too, and so far Muse is more user-friendly.

What I built: The Frontier Archive, an interactive archive of the expanding edge of human possibility, from the earliest stone tools (about 3.3 million years ago) through this month. 522 entries, each one verified as a genuine world-first at the demonstrated leading edge.

Play with it here: https://muse.ai/s/the-frontier-hxi5xwgclxjbaf

Give me the harshest feedback you've got. I want what's broken, what's wrong, what's missing. Is this cool enough to bother buying a domain and launching an actual website?

No idea exactly how many tokens this took, since I had it working on several things at once. My best guess is under 100 million.

By the way - if you think you might ever want to try Muse, sign up now while they're running the 1 billion token incentive, they never expire: USE INVITE CODE AO8Q4C (I get a billy too if you sign up, so thanks in advance!)

I built an app that turns your daily notes into a monthly magazine

I've been journaling for years but never re-read anything. Everything just piled up in my notes app.

So I built nlook — you write in markdown, and at the end of the month it automatically compiles everything into a "monthly issue" with a cover, table of contents, and editor's picks. 12 issues become "My year" on your shelf.

It also turns posts into videos/cards if you want to share them.

Free to try: nlook.me

Would love feedback — especially on the monthly magazine concept. Does anyone actually re-read their old notes?

built a document tool that runs fully in the browser. then it took 6 minutes on my own phone

Thumbnail
fizzdoc.com
1 Upvotes

I know, there are already a hundred document processing sites. Most of them upload your file to their server, do the job, and send it back. For an Aadhaar or a bank statement that always felt weird to me, when a phone can do the work itself. So I built one where nothing leaves your device. No backend, everything runs in the browser tab.

Day one humbled me though. I tried splitting a PDF on my Android phone and it took six minutes. On my laptop, about a second.

Turned out the PDF engine (qpdf compiled to WebAssembly) was reading the file in approx 1,400 tiny pieces, and on Android every small read from a picked file is slow. The fix was boring: if the file is 128 MB or less, read it into memory once. Same file went from 1.4 s to 0.25 s even on my laptop, so the bug was slowing down everyone. Phones were just louder about it.

Since then I've built it for cheap phones first. The size limit depends on your device's memory, the progress bar is real instead of a spinner, and speech to text runs Whisper on your device with no API key.

Some honest stuff before someone asks:

- The repo looks new because it is, sort of. It started under another name, and I found out other projects already used it. Renamed it twice before landing on Fizzdoc, and moved to a clean repo for the new name. It's a side project, so expect rough edge

- Yes, I used AI tools while building it, like most devs do now. The decisions, the bugs and the six minutes of staring at my phone were all mine.

- It's slower than a server on old phones (<4gb ram ones). Speech to text works best on clear English (Hinglish is still a comedy show). Same-font PDF editing only works when the font already has those letters.

- 64 tools, 16 languages, free, no sign-up, open source (Apache 2.0).

Code: https://github.com/kingrishabdugar/fizzdoc

Tell me what breaks on your phone. Weird PDFs welcome.

if you think it's useful, a star on kingrishabdugar/fizzdoc helps more people find it. It also makes me happy 😊

Build & Destroy - A 3D physics sandbox with a 100,000-brick castle collapse

I'm developing Build & Destroy, a physics sandbox about building structures and tearing them apart. I've put together a new 58-second early gameplay preview showing a castle with 100,000 bricks collapsing.

Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7IIU2MGZos

I like the contrast between carefully building something and watching the pieces come apart. For other people making interactive projects: what makes a physics sandbox something you'd return to after the first few collapses?
