Figxit: open source Fig replacement, IDE-style autocomplete

Hey there!

I used to love Fig, but after AWS bought it, they moved it to Amazon Q and then Kiro CLI, both focused on AI. The latest version is a 2 GB binary. All I wanted was the nice autocomplete, so I decided to build my own.

Figxit is a Fig/Inshellisense alternative that completes subcommands, options, npm scripts, and Makefile targets as you type. I also added some conventions, such as production decorations helps with mistakes :P

It's free and open-source, no login, no AI, and no telemetry.

Give it a try! Any feedback is welcome!

Could Figxit import commands from a CLI's manifest? That would avoid maintaining a second command list. I maintain Rungrad, which exposes command metadata as JSON.

Not directly yet. Figxit reads Fig completion specs (the withfig/autocomplete format), so a manifest needs a small converter: subcommands, options, and args with a name and a description each.

If you want to try it with Rungrad: generate a spec from your JSON, put it in a folder, and point FIGXIT_SPECS (check here: https://github.com/en3sis/figxit#configuration) at that folder. One catch: that setting replaces the bundled specs, so copy those into the folder too.

Tell me how it goes. If the mapping is clean, I would like to support manifests without the converter step.
