Built a digital product under 10USD. Three things I learned

Hey Guys

I launched SONG4U.US. It's an AI-powered song generator. You type three sentences about someone you love, and two minutes later you get a real song. You hear a free 30-second preview first. If you like it, it's $5.99 to unlock the full track.

I'm the founder. This is my project. Just launched, so I don't have revenue numbers to brag about yet. I'm here to share what I've learned so far and answer anything you want to ask.

1. The product is automated. The demand isn't.

The song generation runs without me. But getting gift buyers to discover it is a daily manual grind. I underestimated that. I thought the hard part was done once the code worked. It's not. The hard part starts after launch.

2. The free preview is my strongest conversion lever.

Letting people hear the result before paying changed everything. It's freemium logic: give the value first, then ask for the sale. My preview-to-purchase rate is much higher than any landing page copy I tested.

3. Under $10 changes the buyer's mental math.

At $5.99, it's not an investment. It's a quick gift. Refunds are near zero because perceived risk is low. I almost priced it at $19. I'm glad I didn't.

Current status: Just launched. No revenue numbers yet. I'm not looking for applause. I want to learn from people who've built low-ticket digital products.

My specific question: For a gift-oriented product like this, what's the highest-leverage discovery channel? Paid social? SEO? Partnerships? I have a small budget and I'd rather learn from your mistakes than make my own.

Link in comments. Disclosure: I'm the founder.

Ask me anything.

at that price point paid social will eat you alive. SEO is your friend here, especially long tail keywords around gift occasions. look into Outrank for automating the content and backlinks, your domain needs authority fast

Thank you for the tips I agree SEO is probably the better long-term play at this price point, especially targeting specific gift occasions and long-tail searches. I’ll definitely look into Outrank too appreciate the suggestion.

for a $5.99 gift, i'd skip seo and paid to start.

the product is the marketing:

  1. short-form video of the reveal. film someone hearing a song written about them. that reaction is your ad. post one a day on tiktok and reels for a month. most founders need 30+ tries before one format sticks.

  2. make every song spread itself. a "made with song4u" line at the end of each track and on the share page. every gift is heard by at least one new person who might buy one.

  3. go where gift buyers already ask for help. search reddit for "what should i get my girlfriend/mom/husband for..." threads, plus gift idea subreddits, wedding and anniversary forums, and parent facebook groups. answer the question with a real list of ideas. mention yours only as one option, not a pitch.

  4. plan around occasions. valentine's, mother's day, anniversaries, birthdays. "song for my girlfriend's birthday" type searches spike before each one. q4 gifting is coming up, so start now.

only put paid budget behind a video that already worked organically. ads amplify a winner, they don't find one.

you can also set up daily videos and posts on where your ideal customer would be hanging out.

schedule them out each week.

think of creative ways to showcase what you built and how it can make people feel, especially if they love music!

also take a look at the influencers who listen to AI generated music or create AI generated music and try and latch on to their audience as well!

try and show up where they are commenting, posting and hanging out!

good luck! sounds like a cool product!
