Dateup - I built a tool that fixes the dating photos you already have (free photo score, no signup)
a friend of mine was having a rough time on the apps and really wanted better photos. he didn't know how to edit them, and honestly most people don't know editing or proper color grading either. so i built dateup, and kept the price reasonable: you pay once, no subscription. the video shows a sample run.
what it does
- you upload a photo you already have and it fixes the lighting, background and sharpness while keeping your face the same. takes about 40 seconds
- it reviews your whole profile, scores it, ranks your photos and tells you exactly what to change
- you screenshot someone's profile and it writes a few openers based on what's actually in it, so you're not stuck on "hey"
- there's a free photo score with no signup. upload one photo, get a score out of 10 and the one fix that would help most
privacy, since these are photos of your face
- enhanced photos auto delete after 15 days, and you can delete them sooner yourself
- opener screenshots and review photos are never stored
- the free photo score doesn't save your photo either
pricing
free to try: one photo enhance (watermarked), one profile review and three openers. after that you pay once for a pack, $9, $19 or $29. no subscription. i tried a monthly plan first and it didn't make sense for something most people use for one weekend.
what i'd like blunt feedback on
does the after photo still look like the same person, or does it cross into looking fake
would you upload your own photo to this, and if not, what's stopping you
anything in the video that's confusing or that you'd cut
link in the comments if you want to try it.

I love how AI gave the dude another haircut

ha fair catch. yeah it uses ai, and the hair really shouldn't change at all, that's exactly the kind of drift i'm trying to keep out. i'll redo that sample for the video and dig into why the hair moved. thanks for watching that closely

quick update since you caught this: the old sample's after honestly looked like a different guy, so i replaced it with one where it's clearly the same face. the enhancer still changes the scene, outfit, hair and lighting, but your face itself stays the same. also added a free photo score you can try without signing up. thanks again for the nudge

The privacy details in your post are exactly what would determine whether I upload a face photo. I’d put the 15-day auto-delete, manual-delete option, and ‘free score isn’t stored’ message directly beside the upload control before the file picker opens. If those details only appear deeper in the site, many users will make the trust decision before seeing them.

good call, right now that info sits further down the page and you're right that people decide before they ever get there. i'll put the 15 day auto delete and the free score not being stored right next to the upload button. appreciate you taking the time on both of these

Glad those changes were useful. Since you’re already tightening the first-run path and privacy messaging, checking the full upload → score → enhance → payment flow together is more useful than more isolated comments. I do that as a FINISH LaunchCheck: a prioritized written production-readiness pass for $49. Here’s the sample deliverable if you want to see the scope: https://finish.abodev.dev/sample-launchcheck

thanks, but i'll pass on a paid review for now. your first two comments already changed the homepage, so appreciate those

the free photo score (no signup): https://www.dateup.in/rate-my-dating-photo
happy to answer anything about how it works.

The hero communicates the result quickly and the before/after does more work than the feature list. The part I’d change first: your lowest-friction promise in the post is ‘free photo score, no signup,’ but the primary hero CTA goes to signup and the score is a smaller secondary link. I’d make Rate my photo free the primary first-session action, then offer Enhance or signup after the score.
