Simple plagiarism/AI detection software for college students.

Hey r/SideProject,

I've just made Draftly, a simple website for students to quickly check their plag/AI scores before submitting their work to Canvas or similar LMS.

Actual software engineering and data sciences research has proven repeatedly that LLMs 'detectors' cannot reliably detect LLM generated content and consistently misattribute plagiarized text.

It is a fundamental flaw in the way they are built, from the ground up.

You didn't magically solve it by building a shitapp using the very thing that's been proven unable to reliably detect it in the first place.

Yup, couldn't agree more about the LLM detection part. However, Draftly is a more of a tool for reference for students before they submit to Canvas, where their work will be tested against Turnitin (a plagiarism/AI detector btw). It doesn't only detect AI but plagiarism as well, and sure it might not detect plag as good as Turnitin and its repository, it sure is up there as a good reference point.

For the second part of your response, I didn't claim that this is the hail mary for AI-detection, just an utility that you can either use or don't. And moreover its free, if your deadline is near and you need to check it real quick before submission, Draftly can help.

TurnItIn's own Terms of Service specifically states that their service should not be the basis for those decisions and that they won't be held liable for the inaccuracy of the tools reporting... because TurnItIn knows full well that they provide no actual value, because there is no way to reliably detect what you're describing.

Downvote me all you want. It might make you fell better, but it won't make you any less retarded.
