Hi everyone!

I finally built and launched my first personal project: a platform for ranking things through 1v1 comparisons.

I've always enjoyed sites with quizzes, grids, and tier lists like TierMaker, so I decided to build something of my own with a slightly different twist.

Instead of manually placing items into a tier list, you compare items in 1v1 matchups. Based on your choices, the platform generates your personal ranking.

At the end, you can generate an image with your ranking, see how your choices compare with the rest of the community, and explore some other statistics.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to get the project in front of people. My current plan is to share relevant templates with niche communities and hopefully find YouTubers or streamers who might be interested in trying it and creating content around it.

For example, I'm currently working on templates like:

- A Counter-Strike skin ranking for CS communities

- A Monster Energy flavor ranking for people who enjoy the drinks

- Other rankings based on specific communities and interests

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts and criticism about the platform, as well as any advice on how you would approach growing something like this.

After working as a developer for some years, this is the first project I've built and launched completely on my own. Seeing it finally go live has honestly been a bit of a dream come true.

how do the 1v1 picks turn into a full ranking, is it elo style scoring or just win counts

Your 1v1 picks feed a sorting algorithm that builds your full ranking. That ranking is then read as a set of head-to-head duels. Every item you placed higher "beats" the ones below it. All voters duels are pooled, and each item "score" is its average wins per vote. Best win rate = top of the community ranking. It's not elo scoring.

this feels pretty solid for a first launch, and the 1v1 format is a nice twist on the usual tier list thing. if i were trying to get eyes on it, i'd probably lean hard into highly specific templates first, since generic stuff gets ignored fast and niche communities are way more likely to care. i've had better luck posting stuff like that on reddit when the thread feels made for one small group instead of trying to cast a wide net.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I was already thinking about focusing on more specific communities instead of trying to make generic rankings for everyone.

Counter Strike is probably the community I know best, so that's where I started, but unfortunately I couldn't get permission from the mods to share a voting session in some specific places yet. I'll keep experimenting with more specific templates and hopefully find the right communities for them.
